Following my 2v3s using Ghost + Dark duos, here’s a set of 2v3s featuring Johto + Unova duos! There are a lot more units to choose from, but it was still quite difficult to team build since there aren’t a lot of self-sufficient strikers in the pool. I probably missed a lot of potential duos, but I think these clears cover several ways to deal with Mimikyu, so I went with them.

Gotta start with a rival of course! Silver’s actually a pretty good pick for this stage since burn is the main counterplay against Mimikyu. Hilbert gives him all the buffs he needs, and Aggravation 1 Waterfall lets him set up some free turns. I was really lucky with the flinch procs to be honest, especially in the last part, but I think the only one really needed was the one on Mimikyu before Ho-Oh’s sync.

And a rival from Unova to balance it out! Psychic Terrain gives Bianca a lot of perks, and all she needs are crit buffs and some extra buffs for Stored Power. Enter Falkner, who I got very recently and have been enjoying using so far! He has a ton of buffs that Bianca appreciates, and he also gets the jump on Mimikyu as he flies above its Wood Hammers. If I had him at higher move levels I would’ve used him to flinch too, but he’s very good even at 1/5.

This was the first team I thought of when I decided to do this video hahaha. While Mimikyu deals a ton of damage, Excadrill’s bulk in sand with the defense buffs from Jasmine means he can shrug off the Wood Hammers and Shadow Claws. They become more powerful after Mimikyu syncs though, which is where his Potions come in handy. I gridded Jasmine for Iron Tail here since I didn’t realize that Mismagius had X Speed All, but I liked the immediate power that Iron Tail has, and it was already doing solid damage with double Tough Cookie.

Debuff-heavy duo, which really helps Bugsy as Scyther isn’t the bulkiest of supports. Also got a lucky Dragon Rush flinch in the end to prevent Bugsy from being KOed! The Chandelure made up for it by proccing a burn with Heat Wave though hahaha. I’ve been going back-and-forth between EXing Champion Iris or not, as I find myself using her more as a debuffer instead of a damage-dealer. Her damage is really high though, and she synergizes so well with a lot of teams.

I mean, this is what the game recommends using, right? Unlike her alt, base Caitlin is a horrible tank for this since she’s weak to Ghost, and there’s too much damage that her sustain isn’t enough. So most of the work fell onto Morty and his powerful moves. This was such a clutch clear since the only reason it happened was because Drifblim was able to dodge Mimikyu’s Wood Hammer and get that miss from Chandelure’s Heat Wave. No X Speed meant that the opponent’s gauge refilled slower too. The stars really needed to align for this, but a clear is a clear!
