3 status condition + status change combos vs. Uxie Legendary Arena [Pokemon Masters EX]

0:00 – Burn + No Evasion: Silver / Thorton / Hop
4:46 – Poison + Trap: EX Giovanni / BP Erika / EX Skyla
9:07 – Paralysis + Restrain: Selene / BP Lt. Surge / EX Kiawe

We have a new Legendary Arena! One of Uxie’s gimmicks is taken directly from Tornadus, although it fortunately isn’t immune to everything but paralysis. The second gimmick is much more unique – it lessens damage taken unless Uxie has a “status change.” The game is very deliberate in using this term as this covers more than interferences (trap, flinch, confusion) – it also covers pretty much anything that would give the Pokemon an icon below its HP bar (that isn’t stat buffs), such as endurance and sure crit next.

With that out of the way, I ran three teams that use three different status conditions and three different status changes. The first two teams are F2P, though the second uses an invested BP unit. Here’s how each clear went, and the sync grids used:

Burn + No Evasion team: Silver / Thorton / Hop – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10041000000&e1=60&o1=30&g1=AAECAwQF&s1=5&id2=10133000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFERQVGBsfICEjKCot&s2=5&id3=10244000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDRAaHB8iJCYpKw==&s3=5

Starting off with a great example of why the “status change” term matters – Thorton’s Telekinesis gives the target the “No Evasion” status change for a limited period of time. And unlike the interferences, Uxie doesn’t become more immune to this when it runs out, so Thorton is free to re-apply it as much as he wants. Silver’s one of the few strikers who can land a status condition guaranteed, and I paired him with another top 5 rival in Hop, who tanked the stage really well despite the special moves. I think this is the closest to an all-rival clear I can do that doesn’t involve N since none of the rivals have a status change that I can constantly re-apply (Blue’s flinches don’t last long enough for the stage), which is why it’s the first one in this video haha.

Poison + Trap team: EX Giovanni / BP Erika / EX Skyla – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10008000001&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDQ8QExUYGxwdHiMlJygr&s1=3&id2=10140000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFP0FCRUlMUlVaWw==&s2=5&id3=10016000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDhATFBUXGCYo&s3=3

There are also a few units that have both a status condition and a status change in their kits, and some of them are F2P. BP Erika is one of the most reliable among them since both Toxic and Infestation have 100% accuracy after getting the tiles in her grid, and she has a 1-gauge move so she won’t compete with the main striker. The most broken F2P striker in the game has a SE move for this stage so he’s obviously a great pick, and I chose Skyla over Rosa since I needed the defensive buffs and the heals more than the Sp. Atk buffs. Since Giovanni has naturally high Sp. Atk anyway, and he can proc Sp. Def debuffs on his own, he can do without the Sp. Atk buffs.

Paralysis + Restrain team: Selene / BP Lt. Surge / EX Kiawe – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10035000001&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhAaHB4mKCosLg==&s1=3&id2=10123000000&e2=3&o2=714&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoLERITFBUWHB0eHyUmJyg=&s2=1&id3=10149000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFERMUFRcYJScqLQ==&s3=3

This was originally gonna be a Selene + Elio team since both of them cover the stage’s gimmicks, but Elio’s sleep doesn’t even last the first bar before Uxie becomes immune to it. So I brought BP Surge instead, who I believe is the only crit buffer that can reliably induce a status condition. He also took priority in syncs for his Synchro Healing, which was helpful in saving Kiawe’s potions. Kiawe tanked the whole stage and provided chip damage that turned into a main source of damage even without his multipliers. If I had Selene at 3/5 she would be doing most of the syncing instead, since she has a ridiculous amount of multipliers that she takes advantage of.

Overall I think Uxie is in the middle in terms of difficulty among Legendary Arenas, or a bit above the middle of the pack. It’s not as restrictive as Tornadus, but it’s not as free-for-all as Cobalion. The Ghost-type weakness can be a problem since there aren’t a lot of F2P options for it (and the best one is limited), but there are a lot of good counters to this stage (unlike Cresselia lmao).
