6 pseudo-Tech Supports take on the Latias Legendary Arena (2 clears) [Pokemon Masters EX]

0:00 – EX Kiawe / Lillie / EX Dawn
5:10 – Elio / Event Bugsy / EX Leaf

While there are still many supports whose sole job is to buff the team, there have been several supports (mostly new ones but some old ones as well) that have various Tech effects in their kit and grid, which usually come in the form of debuffs and status conditions/changes. This gives these units a lot more utility as they compress both the Support and Tech role into one slot, freeing up the third slot for another striker or a more classic support.

(Relevant to say here that this month’s new support unit also fits into this description once she gets to 3/5, and it’s one of many reasons why I find the sync pair really interesting.)

I brought six of them along for the Latias LA, which is heavily reliant on debuffs so it’s a good stage to showcase them. Here’s how both clears went, and the sync grids used:

Team 1: EX Kiawe / Lillie / Dawn – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10118000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBhESFRgaHB4fIiYnKCk=&s1=3&id2=10149000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhobHB8iJCYoKSo=&s2=3&id3=10116000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggKCw0OEBESExUWJig=&s3=5

My praise for Kiawe has been quite obvious if you’ve seen several of my videos, but for this stage I use a tile in his grid that I haven’t picked up before – Unfortuitous 4, which means Shadow Bone can debuff an extra stat 50% of the time. It goes well with Lillie’s Unfortuitous 9 on Disarming Voice, which adds another debuff per turn. Lillie is also one of the best picks for this stage as her Accuracy buffs means you don’t have to worry about Latias’s evasion buffs in the second bar.

Rounding out the team is Dawn, who was already leeching stats before SC Diantha with Power Siphon 9. She also has Defense Crush 2 as a lucky skill to aid with the Defense debuffs. Dawn also takes role compression to a whole other level as she can also act as a pseudo-striker thanks to her multipliers.

(An annoying mistake I made here was queueing Dawn’s Razor Leaf after Lillie’s Full Power, which was meant for her sync move hahaha)

Team 2: Elio / Event Bugsy / EX Leaf – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10045900000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFExYaHB4hIiYoKywt&s1=5&id2=10122000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBggJCgwNDg8aGxwfIiYp&s2=3&id3=10017000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFGhscHyEiJCYpLC4=&s3=5

While my praise for Elio has largely been about his great synergy with sync nuke Wally, he is one of the techiest supports in the game at 3/5, with Sing letting him sleep chain and Sparkling Aria debuffing Defense, Sp. Def, and Speed at a generous 50% chance (yet another support who did SC Diantha’s shtick first hahaha). He acts as the main striker of this team since I was gonna spam Sparkling Aria anyway, and since I got Mind Games 4, he would be making his own attack stronger.

Sparkling Aria was only debuffing Sp. Def and Speed in this stage, as the Defense debuffs came from Event Bugsy’s Leers. He also acts as the main healer of the team with Synchro Healing, and each sync move was stronger than the last thanks to his Leers. Leaf rounds out the team with her omni-buffs, and also provides some tech-y utility with her Tackle flinches and Iron Tail debuffs.

(I made a mistake of syncing with Leaf in the third bar as I didn’t realize she was still at full health – should’ve gone for Elio as he didn’t sync at all in this run.)
