Heya gang!
Hope everyone had an awesome day whether you were eating food with family or getting in some well deserved you time.
I’ve really been into some games with low poly design lately and I was wondering if y’all had any favorites? Here are some of mine;
Death’s Door – recently released this week Death’s Door is a tight little souls-like game where you play as a crow who is a reaper of souls in a desolate world. With its isometric view, beautiful biomes, and tight controls, it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Lonely Mountains Downhill – this mountain biking game is more of an exploration puzzler than it is a typical sports game. Each trail has a set of challenges to unlock and some of them are specific to bike models you also unlock. Really addictive gameplay with beautiful scenery that makes for relaxing sessions that can also be a bit frustrating in a very fun way.
Islanders – wooooo boy. I will say I’m not usually a fan of sim builder games but this is such a satisfying and lovely little gem. The premise seems quite simple on its face but gets pretty deep if you’re trying to get on the leader boards. Place buildings to earn points but be sure to plan accordingly or you won’t make it very far. Beautiful design mixed with relaxing music makes for a blissful session that’s easy to pick up and put down when the mood strikes. Which for me is hours at a time 🤣
Donut County – mischief and mayhem in the form of a donut delivery app gone wrong. Another addicting puzzler that is cram packed full of absurdist jokes and hilarious animations.
Going Under – A humorous rouge-like depiction of what it might be like to intern for a tech startup that has a bit of a monster infestation. While the controls aren’t as buttery or satisfying as a Hades or Dead Cells; there’s plenty of charm to keep it standing up. Really love the attention to detail in the graphic design and while some of the jokes are “industry in-jokes” I feel they’re certainly accessible. If you’re a fan of Silicon Valley and rouge-likes, give this one a shot.
I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting but these are the ones in my rotation currently. What are some of your favorite [low poly](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_poly) games and why?
