Pokemon Masters

5 Villains team up with protagonists for Unova Champion Stadium (10,000 points) [Pokemon Masters EX]

0:00 – Vs. Grimsley: Guzma / Elio / Kukui
2:02 – Vs. Marshal: EX Giovanni / SS Leaf / EX Sabrina
3:40 – Vs. Caitlin: Ghetsis / Hilbert / EX N
5:48 – Vs. Shauntal: Archie / EX May / Phoebe
7:15 – Vs. Iris: Cyrus / EX Dawn / Darach

I remember Awesome Person suggesting this theme for a 2v3 video, but this week’s Champion Stadium had cooperative weaknesses with the antagonists, so I turned it into a CS run haha. You’ll also notice a more minor theme going on when you add in the third member of each team to the Protag + Villain duo.

Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:

Vs. Grimsley: Guzma / Elio / Kukui – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10001000000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFBhESExQaHSAjJCcoKy0=&s1=5&id2=10125000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgcKCw4PEBESFSAjJA==&s2=5&id3=10122000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFBggKDRMUFRkaGxweHyAjLw==&s3=4

I’ve been warming up to base Guzma recently – his kit might not be flashy, but it has a lot of neat tools for him to do his job properly. That said, he does get a lot of help from Elio, buffing his stats and buying him free turns with Sing. Kukui has the same role with Leer and Accelerock, and tbh we haven’t seen enough Guzma + Kukui interactions in the game yet.

Vs. Marshal: EX Giovanni / SS Leaf / EX Sabrina – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10017100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQsOExQWGhweIyQn&s1=3&id2=10140000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFMDM2OTo+SUxVWls=&s2=5&id3=10114000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBhETGhscHSAhIyUmKCks&s3=5

If you’re wondering why SS Lusamine is so broken, it’s because of this monster. Giovanni’s damage output was already great at the start, but all the buffs he got this year made him ridiculous – and he’s completely free. SS Leaf strengthens both Brainteaser and Smarty-Pants, while Sabrina gives him Sp. Atk buffs and activates type skills.

Vs. Caitlin: Ghetsis / Hilbert / EX N – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10089000000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFDA0OHyEkKCorLC0u&s1=3&id2=10195000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDRETFhojJCUnKCkq&s2=5&id3=10020000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDhARExocHyIk&s3=5

The hardest clear here because of the off-type. I initially tried making Ghetsis the main DPS, but his damage was too low even with all his sync multipliers activated. So I made him help his “son”, as HE1 Dragon Breath activates N’s Static Shock. Hilbert is the obvious support here for the offensive buffs, but the speed buffs also help keep the gauge going. His Waterfall flinch was also needed to make up for the lost quad queue.

Vs. Shauntal: Archie / EX May / Phoebe – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10126000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBgcRExQdICEiIyUuLw==&s1=5&id2=10193000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgkKCwwNDhAcJygpKy0=&s2=3&id3=10049000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggKDQ4REhobHCUmKCorLA==&s3=5

A ridiculous special parameter like the half-sync countdown calls for a ridiculous team comp, and it doesn’t get more broken than this. Phoebe is the only Hoenn unit that could bring May to +3 crit by Turn 2, but it ended up not mattering hahaha. May’s sync not critting was unfortunate, but it only further highlighted how powerful Archie’s Origin Pulse is.

Vs. Iris: Cyrus / EX Dawn / Darach – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10159000000&e1=3&o1=714&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFRobHB0jJCUmKA==&s1=1&id2=10194000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgcKDA0QERQXGi4v&s2=5&id3=10116000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFBgcICQoLDA0QGiUoKSor&s3=5

Cyrus is mostly used as a Water striker, but with Archie having that covered here, he gets to use his Spacial Rend build. Dawn gave the EX boost and defensive buffs, while Darach was mainly here for Defog, letting me forego the gradual healing option for crit shields and letting me skip the Spacial Rend accuracy tile. Unfortunately, Altaria casted X Evasion All in this run, but luckily RNG was in Cyrus’s favor. Feather Dance also helped the team tank even better, which came in handy when I failed to quad queue after Cyrus’s sync.
