Nintendo Switch

I think I know where Nintendo is headed for their next hardware release. VR. (Just pure fun speculation based on my own thoughts)

It’s not a secret that VR is finally tapping into that mainstream vein with Quest 2. I wouldn’t be shocked if in a year – probably 2 – we see Nintendo introduce a standalone VR headset on par to, if not a bit more powerful than Quest 2 (to keep costs down). By then there will be a lot of VR apps/games/etc that people will eagerly port over to Nintendo’s headset that will instantly give it a diverse library very quickly – and we’ll see what Nintendo brings to the table with their take on VR experiences & games. Obviously not all of their IPs will translate, at least not without being heavily modified if not completely re-invented, but I think they can add some new twists and turns to VR that will inspire games to come.

That’s not to say they’ll abandon Switch though. I think they’ll go back to having 2 ecosystems like they always had before – pre switch. But instead of console/handheld ecosystems, it’ll be Switch/VR.

In addition to this not-so-crazy prediction, I think we’ll see them reintroduce Virtual Console that will be heavily inspired by [EmuVR](https://youtu.be/075FKPRMfTc?t=263), offering a more immersive take on retro nintendo gaming, allowing you to pick the carts up and physically put them in old systems, etc.
