This is a discussion for whether or not Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp is worth it. I’ve seen a fair bit of discourse surrounding the games and whether they are worth it or not, talking about how the price might be too high and how they’re JUST GBA remakes, or people not being familiar with the franchise.
While plenty of people already talked about the things that go against the game I’d also like to talk about the things that for it, the things that makes buying the game worth it, starting with…
1: The content
The amount of content in this game is notable, as you’re buying a remake for 2 games one being the original Advance Wars while the other is Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, both of them are fairly meaty as according to [HowLongToBeat.com](https://howlongtobeat.com/#search) Advance Wars 1’s campaign lasts for 14.5 hours and Advance Wars 2’s lasts for 27.5 hours, totaling to 42 hours minimal in the campaign mode ALONE.
This isn’t mentioning things such as local and online play, custom maps (that can be shared online), and going for high scores in the war room. Over al other game can easily reach 50 or 60 hours or even more. But quantity isn’t all this game has as it also has…
2: The quality
While I can’t vouch for the quality of the remakes themselves I can vouche for the quality and reputation the original games got, both of which are some of the highest rated strategy games in Nintnedo’s library, with Advance Wars 1 getting a whopping 92/100 on [Metacritic](https://www.metacritic.com/search/all/Advance%20wars/results) and Advance Wars 2 getting a close 89/100
There’s a reason why this franchise has a dedicated fan base and it is because the games are good, they’re made by Intelligent Systems, same masterminds behind Fire Emblem and paper Mario franchise, so they KNOW how to make a good turn-based strategy game. If you’re curious for more info on the games’ quality then feel free to look up some reviews!
3: the remakes themselves
The remakes themselves are fairly faithful, adding much needed animations to the characters and voice acting to boot, making going through both games much more enjoyable and adding that much more to the already colorful cast of the games.
Not only that but due to it being a switch remake we can no play online in addition to creating custom maps and sharing and/or playing them online with friends, all of that tied neatly in a cute and colorful toy look to both games
4: supporting a small franchise and the benefit that might happen due to its success
I think it’s important for us fans to also support Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp due to it being a smaller and largely forgotten IP.
If this game sells at least a million then it will be considered a success, and this is important as it may brings nintnedo’s eye to bringing back more forgotten franchises such as Golden Sun, Punch-Out!! maybe even Mother/Earthbound or F-Zero (ok I might be reaching) and hey they might want to make a straight up new Advance Wars game too
5: The price
The game will be priced at your usual $60, seeing how there are 2 games you’re practically paying $30 for each and with the amount of content and quality both games have under their belts along with addition of online enabling you to share and play endless custom levels and battle friends online? I think $60 isn’t overpriced for such a meaty pair of games
But these are my reasonings as to why I think the game is worth buying, just to give you a better view at them and to further this discussion, and to further it even more I’d like to hear what you guys think and say whether or not it’s worth buying
