Turns out I have more videos for the Legendary Gauntlet than I thought, so I ended up overpreparing, which is why I’m posting this right now. Don’t expect this to be a regular thing though – I just didn’t want to waste this footage haha.

SS Elesa is one of the best candidates for the Head Start 1 cookie, as with her trainer move you take off an entire turn cycle before your sync move. This is very useful for stages like Dragon-weak Lance that casts Critical Shield before enemy sync, as that extra turn can give you the opportunity to not deal with it. While she does want Vigilance, I always found her on the weaker side in terms of tankiness, so Head Start 1 makes her a much better off-tank.

Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:

Vs. Bruno: EX SS Elesa / EX Brendan / EX Skyla – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10019000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBggJCgsMDhEUFxgZHyE=&s2=5&id3=10016000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDhARFBUXGCYo&s3=3

Elesa’s trainer move also comes with rare accuracy buffs, which is a running theme for this video. With that buff I’m free to exchange Brendan’s accuracy tiles for other useful things. The faster sync countdown is also a boon for units like Brendan that can set up their own buffs in fewer turns, with Elesa’s crit buff only necessitating one Dire Hit+ use from Brendan. Skyla maxes out Brendan’s speed for Inertia.

Vs. Karen: EX SS Elesa / EX Classic Blue / Lana – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10021800000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBhESExYZGx8hIygqKw==&s2=3&id3=10160000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggJCwwNDxESFRcmKQ==&s3=2

Faster syncs mean faster mega evolutions, which units like Classic Blue appreciate for the higher stats and new moves. While Blue needs more time to set up than Brendan, Lana’s here to make that quicker with her trainer move, which also makes her tank the stage well.

Vs. Koga: EX SS Elesa / NY Lance / Falkner – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10111400000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoLERITFBUWHB0fJSYnKA==&s2=1&id3=10150000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFBobHB0gJSYnKA==&s3=1

Got NY Lance from a lucky daily pull, and I gotta say that I’m a bit… underwhelmed? He’s quite slow, and I’m not a fan of his trainer move’s recoil. In any case, he appreciates Elesa’s acceleration as that gives him free turns to use Bounce. Falkner completes Lance’s buffs and joins him with Fly. This was definitely the hardest stage here as it took me a while to get the timing of the moves correctly.

Vs. Will: EX SS Elesa / EX Gladion / Red – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10119000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhAVGBklLi8=&s2=5&id3=10000800000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFBgcJDA8TFBUXGhwfISUo&s3=2

What’s better than one countdown accelerator? Two countdown accelerators! Gladion + Red is of course a fantastic combo, and Elesa lets Gladion sync with the SE Up next effect much faster.

Vs. Lance: EX SS Elesa / Lucas / Lyra – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10162000000&e2=3&o2=714&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFRobHB0jJCUmJyg=&s2=1&id3=10002000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBgcREhUYGhscHyIlJyot&s3=5

The second hardest clear here after the Koga stage, primarily because Lance’s moves do massive damage. SS Elesa’s buffs complement Lucas well though, as he doesn’t have to use his trainer move. Lucas also appreciates the permanent field effects parameter for Dragon Wish, and the team is also aided by Lyra’s permanent Light Screen. That Thunder by SS Elesa at the end was actually accidental, but it ended up being the right call as I needed that extra damage to get the KO.

Bonus clear vs. Team Galactic Takedown: EX SS Elesa / EX Barry / EX Dawn – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10106100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggKCw4QGhweHyEj&s1=5&id2=10099000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICgsMDg8RFBwdLi8=&s2=5&id3=10116000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBgcICQoLDA0QERITFhomKA==&s3=5

Just for fun, as I wanted to see how the extra turn changes things. But then I realized that Dawn’s passive makes quad queues impossible, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of it as much as I could. Oh well, at least Barry gets the Sp Atk buffs he needs.
