(Minor spoilers for the leaked events for the second half of March. Scroll down to the team write-ups if you don’t want to be spoiled.)

Conveniently, one of the arenas that’ll be featured in the next Legendary Gauntlet is the one that’s active right now. I feel that Moltres is gonna be the hardest of the three, as he has a very specific counterplay in weather – and there aren’t a lot of weather setters to go around. WIth sun up, it has the equivalent of Impervious and Status Immunity, and all of its moves in the second HP bar cause guaranteed burn.

But one other counterplay against Moltres is flinch – while it has Resilience, its Lessen Flinch 9 will never turn to Unflappable, so it’s possible to flinchlock the whole stage. That’s what I aim to do for this video – instead of changing the weather, I go the slightly more difficult way of flinching these strikers to victory. It opens up a lot more possible teams to clear Moltres with, so It’s definitely something I’ll go back to for LG.

Most of these clears are sped up since they take a while. Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:

Team 1: EX Classic Blue / BP Morty / Misty – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10148000001&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggREhMUFRgaHB4hJCUmJyot&s1=3&id2=10021800000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgkMDQ4PERITFhkb&s2=3&id3=10110000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDhobHh8hJCkuLw==&s3=3

I think BP Morty is the best flincher for this stage, as his defensive buffs help against Moltres’s debuffs, and his heals really helps out the tank, who has to eat up sun-boosted attacks. Misty in particular really needs it since I have CS2 on her instead of Vigilance, but I brought her instead of her Swimsuit version since I needed her damage. And Classic Blue did Classic Blue things.

Team 2: EX Barry / Grant / Lana – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10053000000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDQ4PExUdIyUnKCst&s1=5&id2=10099000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICgsMDg8cHSAjJS4=&s2=5&id3=10160000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBgcKCw0PERobHB4gJigpKw==&s3=2

While his showcase yesterday focused on his sync move, Grant’s a pretty good flincher for this stage since he can boost his Rock Slide damage with Weather Surge 2. He gets a LOT of flinches here, which is of course very appreciated. Lana’s a great pick for this stage since Group FIre Guard is really helpful against Heat Wave. I picked Barry as the striker for his Full Heal.

Team 3: EX Steven / EX NY Lillie / EX Leaf – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10118400000&e1=3&o1=714&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERMUGhscHR4gJSYnKA==&s1=1&id2=10090000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBhEUFx0fICEjJicq&s2=2&id3=10017000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFGhscHyEiJCYpLC4=&s3=5

Of course, NY Lillie is one of the best answers to status-heavy stages, as her trainer move flat out ignores them. Steven and Leaf is actually a double-flinch comp with Iron Head and Staggering 2 Tackle respectively, though sadly I don’t have Aggravation 1 for Steven since he’s only at 2/5. At least he has his Haymaker-boosted nukes though.

Team 4: EX Marnie / EX Blue / Sycamore – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10021000000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFBgcKER4gISIlJiks&s1=5&id2=10245000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBhUWFxkbHB8jJScqLg==&s2=3&id3=10136000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFGhweICMkJikrLS8=&s3=5

I was trying out different special strikers to pair up with Sycamore to take advantage of his AOE Full Heal, but they either didn’t have crit buffs, weren’t suited for this stage, or didn’t need Sycamore’s buffs at all. So I went with Marnie, who uses Sycamore’s buffs to boost Power Trip’s damage. Base Blue is the flincher here as he can make good use of Sycamore’s buffs, but he definitely appreciates the extra insurance from Marnie’s own Thunder Shock flinches.
