I’ve met Grant and he is anxious and imposter-syndromey as heck about his incredible career. I hope moments like this are affirming for him.

Weirdly, I was introduced to him through someone waxing lyrical about Kingdoms of Amalur and then discovered all the other games he’s worked on.

Crazy to find out this guy grew up in the same place I did and went to the same secondary school

If anyone needs more proof of Grant’s legendary status, here he is shredding a metal version of the Final Battle theme from Banjo-Kazooie: https://youtu.be/RavalfYLtww

That was disappointing, they didn’t even do the first verse =/
This is the most cringe video I’ve seen in a long time

At first I was surprised that the crowd knew the words and could join in too. Then I realized that even if you didn’t play Donkey Kong 64 you’d learn the song through osmosis by hearing it play on certain stages in Smash Bros. I proceeded to sing along with the crowd as I watched this video and I have no regrets. DK! Donkey Kong is here!

The employee sneakily recording Kirkhope with their phone was the cherry on top for me

I unironically love the DK rap.
And Grant Kirkhope is an amazing composer. One of the industry greats for sure.

[Lanky Kong reacting to the DK Rap release](https://youtu.be/PugcxQYJGjs) seems appropriate to share here.

Definitely misread the words in quotation

This is so dang cool.
I thought the NYC Nintendo store was shut down? I’ll be happy if I’m wrong though.
I love his music.
