Nothing is ever completely buried with Nintendo. They do a great job of finding ways to implement their old ideas into new devices/games.

Remember this the next time you see “X company is already working on the next generation of console.” Companies are always working multiple generations ahead.

I remember when Wii hype was at it’s max, I was reading an interview on Gamespot with Nintendo engineers or something and they said “We originally had the idea to use touchscreens like the DS for the controller. So I was shocked when the Wii U was announced.

Ironically that would’ve worked out better for the Wii. By the time the WiiU came out, touch screen phones were so plentiful and had way better tech that it looked outdated and out of touch.

  5. Man, I really loved my Wii U, it’s my second favourite nintendo console behind the gamecube.

I miss it all the time.

and it’s all been downhill from there

I believe this idea will return. It seems like it should be possible to reverse stream from a handheld device to a receiver dock attached to a TV. WiiU in reverse, basically. This would allow you to use the device as a portable, as a dual screen, or as a single screen TV only experience. Nintendo has a ton of dual screen games from DS, 3DS, and WiiU that people would love to play again. I’m not so sure this idea is strong enough to be a whole new console, but it would be a great selling point for a Pro model.

Full disclosure I’m not a fan of dual screen games. Just talking from a business strategy pov.

And they stole the concept from the Dreamcast. Sega does what nintendo want.

You really had to be there when speculation of the Revolution’s new control scheme was the talk of the town. The ideas people came up with were completely off the walls but it seemed nothing was off the table.
