There was already Gyarados Raid Day, the Panpour Event and Mega Gyarados was in raids twice this year, the last time being literally yesterday. Magikarp is not getting another event in at least six months after all this.

I started playing 6 months ago and have 3 Gyarados, including a maxed out one. It was common early summer but even then eggs + random encounters + walking your magikarp on a poffin is crazy easy way to rack up candies

There’s no reason why this should always be treated as some sort of insurmountable task. Just use a Pinap every time you catch a Magikarp. They’re not exactly rare pokemon.

There’s already been a couple community days, and Gyrados Mega raids. How much more help do people need with them? I’ve evolved a couple, and with the raids I probably have 10 of them. And I didn’t try hard.

If you want level 50 hundo Gyarados…
1. Get high level Magikarp/Gyarados (can be through trade). IV doesn’t matter, but it needs to be level 31 or higher. You can prioritise powering up this one over evolving.
2. Make it your buddy, mega evolve it if possible (or use another water mega).
3. If no Magikarps were found, walk 311km to evolve it, up to 296 to take it to level 40, and around additional 296km to get enough candy XL, for total 900km.
4. Every Magikarp caught with Pinap Berry subtracts 6-7km to walk. I catch around 1 Magikarp per day.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been seeing about 2-3 magikarps a day (with incense). I was finally able to evolve to Gyarados and now I see even more. 😂
