The movie turned 15 this summer and naturally I went out to see the rerun in theaters and it got me to play the DS and PS2 games again, some of my favorite tie in games of all time. I was obsessed with that movie in 07, got books and toys and was Optimus for Halloween that year.
The DS games like the PS2 ones have multiple spectacular open world environments with lots of destructible pieces. There’s various missions with full voice acted cutscenes. The main difference in DS other than there being two seperate games for Autobots and Decepticons (like Pokémon, two sides of the same game) you could play as your own Transformer in the story and customize his vehicle form to be any of the ones you scan in the overworld, and change their colors, and increase various stats throughout the game through XP levelling. The music was solid, and there was some sort of Nintendo WFC mode.

I took for granted the fact that every blockbuster movie would come out with a slew of video game adaptations. They were usually mediocre games, but some of them were actually pretty good. Seems they stopped that trend tho 🙁
