Maybe it’s not trying to market itself like that. It doesn’t look like it is. Maybe that’s the devs, maybe that’s the publisher, but [look at this.](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/the-punchuin-switch/) ACTION/ADVENTURE GENRE
I wanted a 2D platformer with a punching penguin. Sounds lit. You’d have to be a sociopath (or just hate platformers) to not be on board. THIS IS IT. I can get behind 2D combat, as a penguin, with or without boxing gloves.
The trailer shows a lot of the block game, the upgrades, side-scrolling plot sequences, a boss fight and the multiplayer mode. I thought it was an all-rounder, e.g Zelda, Sonic! But no, it’s a puzzle game with a side of everything else.
The expectation led to a very frustrating start of the game for me because I was tired and not ready to learn mechanics. I’m an old man now and thinking at the end of a long work day is not my preferred way of relaxing.
If you like Puzzle League/Panel de Pon you’ll still potentially get frustrated as there is no control over how far blocks slide unless you rebound them.
THIS IS ALL FINE if you go into the game with the expectation that it’s a pureblood puzzle game, but it just isn’t action/adventure. That’s like calling Donkey Kong Country a vulture raising simulator.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk about Punchuin.

They also did Fast RMX & the Touryst (unless they’re just publishing this.) Both are high quality games.
You could have watched the trailer for 15 seconds.
I didn’t think it was anything else but a puzzle game lol
The trailer does make it look like a mix of genres, but thanks for letting us know it’s more on the puzzle side of things. Personally, you might have convinced me to check it out… I’m a fan of puzzlers.
That’s what I was guessing from the trailer but it was difficult to tell what some of the other stuff was like the basketball hoop and things like that. Are there mini games between levels or something?
