Like 90% chance. With the daily incense, you should Google the suggested tactics to actually be able to catch a Galarian bird. It’s crazy but the catch rate is 10 % or so. I stopped using the daily because the big birds either never show up or I can’t catch them.

I got that the first day I downloaded the game and only had regular Pokéballs I missed the throw and that was that
Sigh. This bird is most likely going to break your heart. You will think of it often, see it rarely, catch it never.

The chances are roughly the chances of a critical capture coinciding with the appearance of a very rare critter. I’ve seen 15 or 18, thrown excellent curves every time, supplemented each toss with a gold Raz, and never made it beyond 3 tosses before it fled.
They are exceptionally difficult to catch. Don’t feel bad.

I had an encounter used the golden razz, an excellent curve ball with ultra ball and he fled as well. A commenter told me on another post when discussing this, that they had read (maybe been told) that the golden razz actually make it harder. I know there is a difference but after reading that after a Kyrum raid I joined, I caught my shiny using my regular razz and just throws, no curve. I just did another Kyrum raid and used golden razz with 8 out of my 12 tries and he fled. I haven’t looked into it to verify though for sure, I haven’t had another encounter since that one on Christmas Eve
I had a Zaptos encounter today. Hit with golden, excellent throw, ultra ball……same result as everyone else.
I’ve been lucky enough to catch one Zaptos with a crappy throw, golden raz, ultra….so just have to be awful at your throw I guess lol.

I ran into the same issue with a articuno out in the wild. I gave him an Orange Berry and an ultra ball broke out of it and split. Went back try to see if I can find it again nothing.

You have higher chance of being struck by lighting then hit by a car right after then catching him

I’ve seen 4, caught 0. I stopped doing the daily incense cuz that thing pisses me off

It only spawns from the daily incense. Hence, the symbol above its head.
It has a base catch rate of .3%, and flee rate of 90%. They’re pretty much guaranteed to run.
I got a Galarian Articuno from a critical catch. That’s your best “chance”.
My son and I go for Pokémon walks fairly regularly. I hotspot him. I have encountered 6 of them, caught zero. He has encountered 7, caught zero. I would guess they appear 1 out of 10 walks with the 15-min Incense going. We haven’t been allowed a second ball, not once. We always use golden razz and go for Excellents.
Something I haven’t seen someone mention: this bird along with its 2 counterparts only spawn via the daily adventure incense or whatever it’s called

I’ve never seen a big bird using that stupid daily incense. Honestly had no idea this was possible.
You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning at the same time a firework hits you, while driving to the end of a rainbow for a pot of gold on new years eve.
To catch the galarians everytime…
Next time you encounter a galarian, turn your phone to AR mode. Then try throwing your phone at him. (It has to be a great throw or better though) I use a pitching motion and throw as hard as possible but I bet an amazing under handed throw could work also. The “hook shot” won’t work as you can’t throw your phone hard enough. Good luck!! Oh I almost forgot, definitely want to use that golden razz!
Not exactly in the wild but on the daily incense. The Galarian legendaries are a rare encounter and rare catch. The flee rate for the birds is very high in addition to the low catch rate
