    My personal:

    Animal Crossing NH

    BOTW

    Mario kart 8

    Hades

    Legends Arceus

For me- didn’t get the odyssey hype. LOVE SM64, but odyssey just didn’t do it for me personally

  3. Just want to say **Astral Chain** is 1 of them. My other choices are very predictable so I’m not gonna mention them again.

  4. WaterParticular4167

    Smash bros
    Luigi mansion
    Mario Odyssey
    Astral chain
    Zelda breath of the wild

I found Mario Odyssey, Legends Arceus, Dragon Quest 11S, Mario and Rabbid parts 1&2, and of course, Fire Emblem 3 Houses to be great games. These games make purchasing a Nintendo Switch a no-brainer.

In no particular order because they’re different genres:

    – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (obviously)
    – Metroid Dread
    – Octopath Traveler
    – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
    – Animal Crossing: New Horizons (I don’t even like this one, but there’s no denying how successful it was)

This list is based on first-party games exclusively. It would look a bit different with third-party ports and indies as well.

Personal opinion or overall/dismissing my own bias?

I ask because I personally find Breath of the Wild to be one of the worst Zelda games I’ve played (yes I beat it and invested 200 hours in it). However, I would argue it’s is probably a best top 3-5 game of all time across any system including PC.

    1. BOTW – In 2017, I was seriously thinking that video games just weren’t a major hobby for me anymore. Then I bought the Switch + BOTW on launch day and absolutely fell in love. I still can’t believe a game was able to make me feel like I was 12 years old again like that.

    2. Smash Ultimate – It’s the game I return to gain and again still to this day, and expect to still return to years from now. It really and truly is the ultimate version of Smash, and the greatest couch co-op fighting game of all time.

    3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses – I am now obsessed with tactical RPGs because of this game. It will always hold a special part in my heart. Played all 4 routes and the cast of characters, taken together, are now all-time favorites.

    4. TIE: Kirby and the Forgotten Land – My son’s favorite game of all time, and that colors my opinion on it. Still, I enjoyed this even more than Mario Odyssey. It’s my favorite modern 3D platformer. Just charming as can be and the music will stick with me big time!

4.5. Luigi’s Mansion 3 – this one also boosted by my son’s enjoyment. Nintendo’s best animation work and a perineal we’ve now played every October for the Halloween season. It’s a mega hit and I enjoy it even more each time.

    5. Xenoblade 3 – this one might rise up the list in the months and years to come, because the characters and story have really left a lasting impression on me. I can already say it’s one of the most affecting video game stories I’ve yet experienced though.

Honorable mention: Ring Fit Adventure. Literally the only video game that I can confidently say has had a positive impact on me. It brilliantly gamifies exercise in a way no other exercise has been able to accomplish for me.

The fact that BOTW, a Wii U port, is in most lists says a lot about the overall quality of the game library

  23. 11nerd11

Botw (best open world game ever made next to Elden Ring)

Mario Odyssey (this game is just bursting with creativity in a way few games are)

Hollow Knight (I *loved* playing this in my bed with headphones on. Such an amazing athmopshere)

Splatoon 2 (had more fun with it than 3 somehow. Played my Switch way more back then too.

And soon it will be Persona 4 (Same reason as Hollow Knight. Can’t wait to spend dozens lf hours in a cozy blanket and jamming to the tuned while it’s raining.)

    – BotW
    – Mario Odyssey
    – Smash Ultimate
    – MK8D
    – Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I have played 250 games on switch and these are the only 5 that I rated 5/5 stars

  26. Difficult_Sink_6579

    In no order:

    Zelda BotW

    Super Mario Odyssey

    Smash Bro’s Ultimate

    Metroid Dread

    Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

  27. rivaldobox

I can’t really put together a top 5, but I’ll list 5 of my favorite games on the Switch in no particular order.

    – Zelda Breath of the Wild

    – Metroid Dread

    – Hollow Knight

    – Dead Cells

    – The Messenger

Of these 5 I’m sure The Messenger is the odd one out, but my god did I love that one. Gameplay and artstyle aside (which are really good imo), what made me fell in love with it it’s the humor. The dialogue is so funny to me. It’s very self-aware and I know that’s not for everyone, but it 100% hooked me.
