Does the icon say it is charging?

  2. whydo-ducks-quack

Check your power supply, outlet or the usb adaptor are probably bad. Try a different cable maybe?

  3. EdgarAllanKenpo

Have you tried turning it off and on again.

Try using ur Nintendo charger. Make sure you’re not just using a phone usb charger

  5. ErrorEra

if this is after you left it in a drawer for a few months, so it’s been at zero battery for a long while, then keep it charging for 1-2 days before trying again

    this was my case anyway…

  6. Sejexsmrt89

Almost looks like an iPhone charger and that won’t work at all lol

More than likely it’s the power adapter that you’re using since it’s not the official nintendo one. Not all usb adapters/cables can deliver the power that switch needs especially to charge it from dead.

It might show that it’s charging when it was turned on, but it was probably charging very slowly. Try using a different adapter/cable combo or use the official charger.

Use the included charger then remove joycons. Charge it for a long long time.

  9. If you aren’t using the official charger, it delivers the wrong wattage and may have bricked your switch

    It’s definitely a charger thing.

My Switch doesn’t charge from other USB-C chargers I have lying around

  11. WentzWorldWords

That happened to me before. Sadly I don’t remember what I did. Held the power button for 20 seconds?

  12. kornychris2016

100% you bricked it. If you don’t use the official Nintendo charger you can deliver the wring wattage and kill it.

I’ve learned this from experience. Twice.

Ypu battery probably drain out you need to plug it with nintendo charger for a while it happen tp my friend… phone charger doesnt make the job . Anyway dont charge with 3rd party better for the console

  14. Glassan420GD

I had one that wouldn’t charge on the cord and then I put it in the dock and it fired up.

Your using the wrong charger. It will mess up the charging port. Only use a switch charger. We made the same mistake when we first got ours a few years ago.

If the switch charger doesn’t work it’s probably already messed up the charging port. If you just got it you can send it to Nintendo to get it fixed. We did. It is under warranty for like a year. You are going to lose all your save files but it saves you the $300 for a new one

The switch has a weird power curve and to my knowledge, no other charger and cable other than the original nintendo switch charger supplies the correct power output for the switch. Using a generic cable and charger usually fries the chip thats on the motherboard and getting that chip replaced can cost you a pretty penny. Many of my friends have done this and ended up frying the same specific chip thats on the motherboard. Try plugging in an original nintendo switch charger and see if it charges. If it doesn’t, then the chip has probably been fried aka you have a slightly expensive brick in your hands.

Use an official Nintendo charger and just leave it on the charger until it turns on. Might take a few days, this happened to me and after a day it turned back on

    Do hard reset

Had this issue once when I didn’t use the official nintendo charger, which in the picture looks like u aren’t either

Don’t really remember but I think I got it to turn on by holding the volume buttons and then trying to power it on

I noticed all of the OP’s responses have received down votes. Any reason he is seemingly getting targeted? Bullied if you will?

    Answer:
Clearly he needs to use official Nintendo charger with the joycon controllers disconnected. The Nintendo chargers allow for the power needed to transfer that basic cords do not. Learned this back with WiiU.

You people must understand that Nintendo included that specific black AC charger for a reason. Why are you using 3rd party cables and chargers with your Nintendo Switch? The Nintendo AC charger and cable are calibrated to push a specific voltage into the Switch console… you broke this Switch because you cannot use common sense with your devices…

  21. This happened to my switch when my girlfriend went on a trip with it. She didn’t bring a charger and tried to use a phone charger. It worked for a bit but then stopped and wouldn’t turn on. We got a new switch charger and charged for a couple hours. No issues since.

You can get a USB amp meter cheaply. Most of those have a small screen that shows you if the device is actually charging.

If it’s not charging the chip inside the switch may have gone bad or the battery stayed flat for too long.

Mine had this problem after using a portable charging unit a lot. Ended up sending it in to be fixed by Nintendo, cost around 100.00 to fix it.

  24. CRobledo01

I read in most comments that its for the charger but you don’t have the official. You can try to connect it in the stand to play in the TV, it have a charger incorporated and it should work correctly.

  25. While you have the power adapter plugged directly to the bottom of the Switch, hold down the power AND the minus volume button at the same time for 10-15 secs. Good luck!

  26. NeedsSumMilk

Did you hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds for a force boot? You have to hold it for quite a bit.

  27. Dami_Gamer0211

Use the original or an official Nintendo charger, and did you ment shut it up? Becauseyou can’t shut down a console that has no battery

Time to break out the white rice

My dock wouldn’t charge mine and I even wiggled the cords and unplugged them from dock and tried again. I switch to a the Nintendo power cord charger directly. Then, suddenly my dock started working again few days later.

  30. Mordantcandle

Wrong charge cable. Need to use the propietary switch charger

  31. Database6583

Well I tried to do this, My OnePlus charger worked.. I lost it and the other USB-C I had did not charge it. Months later I found the main charger and it worked. Just buy a new charger for $80

  32. Neat-Kick-5438

In addition to using the original charger, I would also recommend you to remove the joycons, and then leave just the console charging for a couple of hours before trying again.
