These past 365 days saw the release of three games in Square Enix’s patented “HD 2D” line: Triangle Strategy in March and the Live A Live remake and Octopath prequel for mobile in July. And now we have two more games to look forward to next year: Octopath Traveler 2 and the Dragon Quest 3 remake. This little subseries has become synonymous with the Switch at this point, with Octopath 1 being one of the standout titles from the big [January 2017 Switch event](https://youtu.be/Gp-Y_FgDHjQ). I know many are hoping for similar remakes of Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6, but I’m personally holding out hope for Xenogears or even the original Final Fantasy Adventure (AKA the first Mana game). But I’m also curious about what a brand new action RPG would look and play like in this style. Maybe akin to the early Mana games? Or something entirely new?

My dream route is that they make a deal with Nintendo to remake Super Mario RPG, Golden Sun and Pokémon Black and White.

Chrono Trigger is easily number 1 for me and most.. Terranigma Tales of Phantasia Super Mario RPG would be great.
I love the hd2d style.
Ff6 would be my dream game. But I’d also love Zelda lttp and chrono trigger.
Hope we get dq1 and 2 also. Seems weird to start with 3 as I think it’s a trilogy

Would love Dragon Quest 4, 5, and 6 to get the HD 2D treatment.
I think Pokemon Black and White would be great, too, in the HD 2D style.
It’s probably wishful thinking at this point, but I would absolutely love if they remade the PC Engine Tengai Makyou games with the HD 2D style.

My dream would be for them to retire that style and never use it again, so many good games I can’t play because that awful style ruins the experience for me.
Not hd 2d but in a similar vein i really want the oracle zelda games to get the link’s awakening treatment.
I’m not much into traditional Japanese RPGs.
I’d like an action RPG, something brand new and modern.

A Pokémon game in the HD 2D pixel art style with all Pokémon available to catch and transfer in. Would be cool if they remade Gen 5 like that.
