  1. Really great game if you haven’t played it.

If you’ve played it on the gamecube, please be aware that this port is 30 fps instead of the 60 on gc.

Edit: to be clear it’s not a switch hardware issue, but rather a port of the ps3 version that only ran at 30 fps

  2. BrainSweetiesss

30 FPS for a remastered from 20 years ago lmao. The guts to sell this product.

  3. TheStabbingHobo

Y’all can hate all you want, but I haven’t played this in ~15 years and am stoked to be able to play it again.

Easily my most played through GameCube game.

  4. Riomegon

For those concerned about the 30FPS CAP, this remaster is based on the PS3 version of the game which ran at 30FPS. Also all versions of the game (PS/XBOX/Switch) Will be 30, this isn’t a Switch only issue.

Hard to get excited about a simple remaster when Dolphin with HD texture packs already exist. :/

  6. edcculus

Boy, I picked this up for pretty cheap on Gamecube about a year ago, but ill probably just get this when it goes on sale since playing Switch is usually a little more convenient, and it will look better on my TV.

  7. FunkmasterP

Loved Vesperia. Berseria was okay. Arise was gorgeous and had great combat, but the story never hooked me. Never played Symphonia or Abyss. I want to play them both someday.

  8. frogginbullfish5

Think ill just stick to playing it on a CRT with my OG gamecube

Recently played this on steam and I gotta admit.. this isn’t even anything close to a remaster. They literally just added a little bit shading. Everything looks exactly like it did when it first released.. great game but this remaster is lazy

This exact same game is available on PC for 20 dollars, it was available on the GameCube with Players Choice for 20 dollars.

Every other major Tales of game is currently available for 20 or so dollars on most consoles, and that’s before sales.

Don’t give Bandai Namco more than twice the amount of money this inferior port is worth. If you must, at least wait until the price drops inevitably. If you haven’t played it in the last **20 years** then you can wait a while longer.

    Soooo…..wheres the remastered part?

  12. 86GucciLoafers

Why are we all suddenly acting like 30fps is unplayable and ruins a game

  13. irisuniverse

Just gimme Skies of Arcadia Legends please

  14. justinxpx2

Be very careful buying this. Tales of Symphonia remaster came out on steam a couple years back with massive performance issues on top of this 30 FPS they’re giving us, game was almost unplayable in the state that it was in, not saying this will be the same case but felt like a soulless money grab for steam

  15. I literally just bought this game on Steam (Which was ported there around 2016) and I’m not seeing any difference.

    Remaster, my ass.
The Steam version isn’t that good either. I just bought it to experience the extra content that the Gamecube version didn’t have.

  16. OckhamsFolly

And still I wait for Tales of Phantasia :/

This game is excellent and plays fine at 30 fps. The OG on GameCube played at 60 but they lost the code after it was ported to PS2. Many of the games functions are tied to the framerate and it can’t be retroactively fixed without rebuilding the entire game. It’s worth noting that even modders, who tried to fix the frame rate themselves on PC, eventually gave up.

There are very few upgrades in this version. The textures are improved and a few small gameplay issues are fixed. Otherwise it is simply a port to modern systems. I will be buying day one but I’m a bit of a super fan and collect every version. I’m glad to be able to play it on switch.

  18. GenderJuicy

I wish the characters didn’t look so stubby in-game and looked like their concept/promo art.

  19. Expert_Cup3083

I remember getting this for Christmas when it came out on Gamecube in Europe and being really excited for it. N64 and Gamecube were starved of RPG content in Europe compared to the PlayStations.

  20. Marvin_Conman

I don’t know why people love this one so much, it’s pretty mediocre compared to other titles from the series… And I played almost all of them.

  21. AlbionReturns

I am extremely torn over this. On the one hand, I don’t want to reward Bamco’s shamefully lazy effort here; but on the other hand, good sales + new fans = higher likelihood of more ports/remasters.

A good amount of the series is inaccessible either by having no English release, or being stuck on an old console. (Unless one is willing to Emulate)

  22. ShaitanSpeaks

Omg!!! The first remaster I am actually psyched to learn about!! Hopefully they do part 2 as well!

Actually now that I’ve watched the trailer, what has been remastered?? It’s looks like the ps3 and pc versions of ToS.

  23. PurpleSmartHeart

    Remastered my ass

Literally all they did was update the resolution

Some of it actually looks *worse* than the gamecube version. And that’s not nostalgia talking, I literally replay it every couple years or so.

At least on PC you can use a 60 FPS patcher.

  24. FierceDeity_

    “Use the optimal option”

Nah, keep wooden blades on Lloyd lol

  25. Galaksee

No fucking way this is real. My daughter, Colette, is literally named from this game. It’s literally one of the best of all time.

  26. TheDumbestDruid

It still looks like shit. Fantastic game, but this “remaster” is just a cheap money grab. It’s like $20 on steam/PSN. Just buy the original.

  27. PinapplePilot

    WHAAAAAAT!

This is amazing! My favorite game. I’m sos excited

  28. SGKurisu

This is really garbage lol. The Chronicles HD releases have already been a thing for a while and are still playable on a good amount of hardware. This being released means there won’t actually be a Remake or remaster that pushes things or goes for a new engine or whatnot, this is as lazy as you can get. It’s almost like they just did this to tick off the box of “Symphonia 20th anniversary remaster”.

Like imagine any old Tales game but with an Arise engine and graphics man.

  29. Still waiting for a Golden Sun remake… Is that too much to ask?

    Edit: typo

  30. XenoKong

How does this look worse then the GameCube? Absolutely fucking not 😂😂
