This game came out 11 years ago, the cutscene looks better and has better music than FE: Engage that just came out today. They look even more amazing on the New 3DS stereoscopic 3D screen.

They don’t, but this is entirely subjective and likely a case of you disliking Engage’s aesthetic rather than a question of fidelity.
From the first video’s description: “Full 1080p Cutscenes from Valentia Complete Edition Blu-Disc covered to 60FPS for enhancing viewer’s experience”
So, that’s not actually how it looked on a 3DS.
You probably just like the art style of the 3DS games more than Engage’s. And that’s fine, but that kind of thing is subjective and you’re basically asking “Why do I like how X looks more than Y” and nobody here is really gonna be able to explain your own feelings to you.
Sometimes, certain entries in long-running franchises just hit harder for you than others. There’s a million X factors that would go into why that could be the case.
You are using **prerendered movies** as a comparison which don’t reflect the actual in-game visuals.

No it doesn’t. My god this is just proof that Fire Emblem fans just find small things to nitpick about.
I’d say it looked better than Three Houses, but Engage brings its cutscenes up to par imo. Though I’ve only just started, I was impressed to see the 3D models in the cutscenes again rather than going full 2D animation. Three Houses was a great experience but it did feel off for the 3DS games to look better in that regard imo.
But I think you can tell with the shading and background art right off the bat that Engage is the best graphical entry we’ve gotten in a while. Though I do prefer Awakening and Fates for the character models
Now please post a pre-rendered cutscene from Engage for us to compare.
