Oof. This happened to me the Halloween before the last and it took me damn near till the following Halloween to complete it. You’re on page 2/4, someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think there’s another “catch 40 ghost types” behind the one you’re on.
You can look for team rocket, play at night but ultimately it’ll be a grind. Might have to wait for this year’s Halloween
Edit: just remembered what else helped me. Look out for ghost type spotlight hours and when/if we get them, go nuts.

a lot of people are saying wait till October/Halloween but you should keep in mind that in late Feb will be Hoenn tour as well… Hoenn has several ghost types. If you don’t mind the wait that might be your best bet outside of daily incense

Good thing – it’s not going anywhere… sometimes you can’t finish them during the event, and then it will take a WHILE to get it done.

Take your time machine to October – any year after 2016

Shuppet, duskull and sableye all spawn at night and in the early morning, possibly others too. I usually get 1 phantump a day using my daily incense. Hoenn tour is at the end of February and the gen 3 ghost will be spawning during that.

There’ll be an event in the future with ghosts. Also you could find a nest on silph road for ghosts but people hardly use that site now.

I am on the same quest as well. I walk after 10 for 30 minutes and I get like 2-3 ghost type also once in a while from grunt battles I get ghost type Pokémon.

I need 12 more lol plus the evolve a feebas one and the can 100 Pokémon from the daily incense. I got the feebas one right after I transferred my only feebas lmao gotta love it

Catch them as you see them. There’s no rush or time limit on doing that task, so just use it as a way to get a little endorphin dump every time you see a ghost-type spawn for the next little while. 🙂

Either grind at night when the ghosts are out, check out your local slack/discord groups for information on specific park spawns in the area, or just wait for Halloween next year.

I’m not sure if it’s true but someone once told me that ghost types spawn more near movie theatres and cemeteries at night.

Look for the Ke ke ke ke rocket grunts. I think one of the Rocket Leaders you can get Sableye. Mega Gengar will be returning soon farm that one. Otherwise play late at night or early morning.

I don’t play in the dark, but often see a shuppet on my way to work in the morning (about 7AM).

Playing 8pm to 8am increases chances of ghost spawns.
I also play near a cemetery (the park I frequent is right by a cemetery), I don’t know if that actually has an input into the amount of ghost spawns, but I’ve gotten ghost spawns outside those hours by playing near a cemetery.

Oooh I am sad to break it to you, the next phase 3/4 is going to have another Catch 40 ghost Pokemon. Yup, get used to seeing this burn slowly till the next ghost themed event or Halloween.
