I will be getting it after finishing Persona 5. Gothic and Risen are games I really love, so I will be happy to play it once more on Switch

Fable clone?

Risen is one of those games that definitely aren’t for everyone. The whole Gothic-lite experience is definitely not players are used to when they think about modern ARPGs.
I’ve tried beating it on PC a few times so I definitely can spot some good ideas the devs at Piranha Bytes had. The tropical setting is definitely a breath of fresh air and the whole factions thing is very Gothic-esque.
The original game was released back in 2009 and while it was released on consoles, it feels like an early 2000s PC game so if you’re interested in playing it, you should expect some jank here and there.
If you ever wanted to play something like the Gothic series but never had the chance, this one might scratch that itch.

Lmao I was like okay cool, missed this one back in the day it looks like a elder scrolls game
*character slowly slides on his butt through spikes*
Lmaooo why was that in the trailer, is it an inside joke ?

At least the price is reasonable

So, there’s a video online of handheld footage…..and omg. It looks and runs like shit. I’m a massive fan of the switch, but the game looks and runs like a psp or maybe even vita game. Why would they port a game that old and think it ran well enough on switch to release?…..

“Captured on Nintendo Switch”
…………. I think they spelled ‘Nintendo 64’ wrong.

I beat this game last year on PC. Was a good game I thought the combat was better than Elex. Just exploring the map was just a great time. Just a tip but get lock pick 2 or 3 just 1 under the max

This game went pretty hard in 2009 but it felt a bit clunky and dated even then. $30 for this is an absolute joke, this game is regularly available on steam for $2
You will regret spending $30 on this

I love how 90% of the trailer is endgame content. If you have never played it and like the Gothic formula then maybe the game is for you, but it isn’t your typical RPG. It also felt very clunky even back in the day.

Game is super dated. Tried to play earlier this year and turned it off in 30 minutes.

Just a disclaimer for Gothic 1&2 and Risen 1 fans: This game runs terrible in handheld mode atm and well, the only reason to get this if you own a PC already is said mode.
So I hope they will release a patch because honestly, this is not what I would consider enjoyable. Playable, yes, but far from optimal. A steady 30fps would be the least they’d have to do to have a good release here. Also, the game runs uncapped so you get to 60 frames in caves and such. Fps fluctuations –> bad.
So if some THQ employee reads this: optimize your game and add the option to cap the framerate to 30 constantly. Higher fps are better, but not if they fluctuate between entering caves and being outside in such a drastic amount. Very poor port as of now and such a lovely game doesn’t deserve that.

Risen on Switch? That’s fucking random as hell. That’s cool and all, but it’s going to be pricy for what you can get the entire Piranha Bytes collection that goes on sale all the time. All the Gothic and Risen games for a McDonald’s combo meal.
Rocco_Morrashow
There are really no gameplay videos. Just one, and it’s running without the day one patch very terrible. Don’t know right now if the game is worth it.

Finished and loved it when it released in 2009 so I had to preorder it for Switch, will get my copy tomorrow so will see if the port is as bad as it seems from that one gameplay video we have

This game isn’t even worth $0.00

This looks like something I need to play. It just screams “I’m terrible,” and I love it!
Lost-Hunt-8492
If this is ported I hope Bethesda consider oblivion or Fallout which are far superior games of that time.

Or ya know….a fable port to the switch.
