Didn’t a kid die in an amusement park in Florida because he ignored the weight/size limit and then family wanted to sue?

If i want to sit in a chair designed to hold 150 lbs, I should not be surprised when it collapses if I weigh more than that.

Why is this so hard to understand? It’s “strict” because that’s what it was designed for.

EDIT: I love how people took me LITERALLY. Jeezus.

Unrelated: The gift shop outside the attraction has a shelf full of RingFit Adventure under a sign that reads “Better Luck Next Time”

  4. I want to ride the Mario ride, I’m built like Wario and act like Bowser, which means I’m gonna break the rules and ride it and die like a goomba.

  5. AtomizedMist

It’s 40 inches, in case anyone wanted to know.

Doesn’t EVERY ride have strict limitations? I mean, the seats don’t stretch… you either fit or you don’t

What if a real life Wario wanted to go on?

I was at California Adventure five, six years ago on the California Screamin’ ride and I witnessed a very, very large lady being told she couldn’t ride.

She had managed to get to the very front before being told. She was angry, insisted that there was nothing wrong. Three workers had approached her, all asking her to step aside.

When the coaster arrived, she tried to get in. It was clear she couldn’t fit. She sat down and even tried to pull the bars down, but couldn’t get it down all the way, not even close. She kept pulling on it and could barely get it down past her shoulders.

The announcement was made on the PA about the ride being delayed. More staff members arrived, told her to get out. She was still arguing. Security got there. Told her to get out, the ride wasn’t going to continue. Finally, in tears, bawling her eyes out with her husband and a few kids in tow, they help hoist her out because she couldn’t on her own, and as she was leaving the security was following closely behind.

They do this for safety reasons. You’re not being discriminated against because you’re fat. You’ve removed yourself from the ability to enjoy things you physically can’t fit in to.

40 inch waistline is *extremely strict*? Oh, America.

I’m not sure that I completely believe this, I’m wondering if the 40 inch guideline is a super conservative estimate. I’ve ridden the ride in Japan, and it definitely fits way over 40 inch waistlines. My waist is 37 inches, my brother in law that is significantly heavier than me got on without any issues. I can’t believe Universal would make the rides smaller for Americans.

I just googled an average waist of a man and I got an answer that

    “40 inches isn’t death sentence”

Yeah … I guess it’s not “very strict” if you have to put “not death” in description

ITT: People who have no idea how waist sizes actually work

40 inches isn’t exceptionally big, but i think it’s to give them some extra legal leeway if somebody who literally doesn’t fit in the ride kicks up a fuss…

  14. As a fellow large lad with fear of being embarrassed by not being able to fit when I went to Disney a few years ago I would just go up to the front of the line and ask the workers if this ride is “Big Guy friendly” and they would very discreetly let me know if it was or not. Since then I have lost a ton of weight but I still have this fear.

There was only 2 rides that I couldn’t fit and both times they would give me a fast pass ticket to any other ride. They are really good about this.

Sad that Reddit mods can’t get on this ride

  16. AgentSkidMarks

40in waistline is not extremely strict.

  17. Assumption-Straight

Short people restricted as we for rides. It’s life.

  18. You ate your way in, you can walk your way out

  19. WhiteAndNerdy85

This is not extremely strict at all.

  20. studiopzp

I was there today and rode it twice. I am also heavy so it’s not as bad as the article states. There’s also a test seat at the front so you don’t have to waste time.

obese influencers are gonna be Pissssed. I can’t wait to see their scathing posts when they are denied

It’s only ‘extremely strict waistline limitations’ to an average American
