Massive thanks to this Bilibili clear for showing me Defense Crush 2:

Never occurred to me that I could totally use that to abuse Cress having 0 defense drop mitigation.

Lucky Skill: Defense Crush 2

So my observations:
This clear isn’t actually too terrible, at least not as terrible as I initially thought. Definitely still a “just flinch 4head” clear though. Don’t forget Piercing Gaze.

Starting off with the initial sync cycle, you want to be getting flinches. The ideal scenario is to get through bar 1 before Cress uses the second calm mind as this will help deal with the sure crit hits later. This will prove challenging as you don’t want to be on the second half of bar 1 either because Shadow Ball will chunk you for good damage. Make sure to have Terrain up after Cress’ first sync so we can Charged Immunity through the Thunder Wave.

Bar 2 opens with Cress getting sure crit and queueing Icy wind which will chunk you for a good bit, however if you interrupt this via flinch, you will be able to skip it for the much weaker Ice Beam. Buddy Volt Tackle will be our main source of damage here and we’ll likely get through the bar using that. Use the downtime from flinch to get your BVT hits in and quadqueue upon entering the second half of Bar 2. With Charged Immunity Cress’ Toxic becomes a free turn for us to do damage. Make sure to use Terrain somewhere during this bar as this will carry us for the rest of the stage.

Bar 3 opens with another sure crit Icy Wind which does around 90% if Cress is at +6. This is why we try to end Bar 1 before the second Calm Mind. In the linked video they were able to survive the following Hidden Power with a sliver, but their SSTRed was 150. I’m unsure if 140 will cut it. We can’t rely on flinch shenanigans here due to Cress putting up a shield which blocks Staggering since it counts as a status move. Ending this bar before Cress’ second move goes one of two ways: Quadqueue BVT before the Icy Wind and drop your G-Max Bolt Strike and quadqueue another BVT to finish the bar off, or quadqueue Sync and finish off with a BVT as shown in the video.

Yeah honestly what is this unit even?
