Being a college student doesn’t mean you’re smart.

  2. N0SYMPATHY

I’m guessing it’s just me, but I don’t feel the need to watch these live and obsess over it. Usually catch it up later and watch the interesting bits I care about.

  3. I try to catch them all live but if it’s not possible they are always playable from the start on YouTube. Just why?

  4. thebetabruh

my guy just wanted to watch those dozen farming game announcements live

  5. DrAcula1007

What are the chances that whoever did this is a redditor? Because if so, they are definitely on this sub.

  6. Evilcon21

He couldn’t have faked being sick or something. What an idiot

  7. foguckyourselfplz

Mans was definitely an Advance Wars fan

  8. Prince-Lee

This vaguely reminds me of the time that my college campus got locked down for a “man with a gun” when the gun in question was like a replica pistol from the Civil War that a professor brought for his history class.

The headlines make it be something more than it really is — a joke made by a student and the likewise Police response lol

  10. neostalgiac

This is so fucked why not skip or just watch in class there’s no way a college students done either of those things before

  11. PerpetuallyOffline

They could have watched it afterwards, skipped class, or even just sat in the back and watched it with one earbud in. This takes the cake.

If you read the statement, the kid was just joking, not making *legitimate* threats. That being said It was obviously a terrible joke to make given the context, though. It sounded real school-shooter like so the police response is somewhat understandable.

The “once in a lifetime” hyperbole used in the email is definitely something I would say at that age….but not in a fucking email to my professor lol.

  13. sergiossa

Going by the post alone, it hardly sounds like a threat, sure it was silly send that to a professor but I feel the response is way blown out of proportion other than our hyper awareness of how frequently there’s violent attacks at schools.

  14. NickieBoy97

I would just watch it right after. It’s not like if you don’t make it then it’s lost forever.

Also what is stopping them from just not going to class if they really wanted to watch it live. Anytime I would skip a college class I wouldn’t even email my professor, I just wouldn’t show up. This isn’t high school, you’re not going to get arrested if you don’t show up.

  15. Gascoigneous

Geez. Just catch up with it after class. It isn’t worth it. I have to miss cool live streams all the time but i just catch up with it later.

  16. Have_A_Jelly_Baby

Gamers are so fucking embarrassing sometimes.

  17. Worm_Scavenger

Tears of the Kingdom got these kids actin’ unwise

  18. CrazyComedyKid

they’re always either midnight or during school in my time zone.

  19. Just….stream it in class with headphones or subtitles. Like, it’s not hard to get away with doing other things in a college class.

  20. Bro just skip class if it’s that important.

  21. MarcsterS

I…just usually watched it on the computer in the class room. Hell I’d even watch it with others if the class was over by then.

  22. It’s university. If you want to skip class to watch a Nintendo Direct you’re allowed to.

  23. DoombotBL

Damn this guy is down bad. Just watch the Youtube vid later.

  24. MidKnight_Corsair

When did gamers™️ become so unhinged

Nah for real though, when did people get like this. Why can’t they just settle down and think their decisions through before actually doing them

  25. Rebel908

As a reminder for people who aren’t from Southern California, we are 18 days removed from a mass shooting in Monterey Park, CA that killed 11 people.

Call it an overreaction if you want, but it’s certainly not unwarranted.

  26. Why does a “perceived vague threat” need all the service officers, community service specialists and a K9 team? Outside US question

  27. S1rTerra

Bro just watch it after and ignore all news on social media until you watch it.

  28. GroovySpagooter

you know you can miss a day dumb fucker don’t have to call in, a threat professors don’t care if you show up.

  29. probablysmellsmydog

Just…don’t go to class? It’s college nobody is forcing you to do anything

  30. fireflydrake

He did NOT threaten him. He sent a joke email telling the professor to cancel class that day “in the best interests of humanity” or something similar. The professor didn’t understand the reference and police were brought in before the student could clarify what he meant. Even the police have publicly stated no threat was made. It was just a goofy misunderstanding that unfortunately got taken severely wrong and led to a wild response.

  31. Must be a freshman. Just skip class. They don’t call your parents lol!

  32. GrendelNightmares

Couldn’t have hid your phone in class like a normal person?
