I remember reading an interview from a former developer at Retro studios. He talked about the feasibility of remastering the prime games. This was in days back when the rumours of the remaster we still fairly new or just after prime 4 was announced.
From what he said, if the studio were going to do it, they probably would only do the first. His opinion was essentially that Prime 3 was so built around the motion controls of the Wii that just applying a regular twin stick control scheme to the game would make it feel unwieldly. They’d have to rethink a bunch of puzzles and at that point they may as well just do a full remake which would take a lot longer to do right. So Prime 3 was almost aways off the table.
Prime 2 would be fine since it’s a GameCube game, but it isn’t a well regarded as the original so if Prime 3 is out and as such you’re not doing the trilogy remastered then why bother with 2.

I feel like this goes without saying. Releasing a sequel to a game over 10 years later probably won’t sell well. But, if you re-release the older ones with a fresh coat of paint, then people will be hype about the fourth.

As a Metroid, Legend of Dragoon, and Titanfall fan, I’m use to rumors giving false hope. I can wait for a reasonably priced collection. $40 per 15+ year old game is a bit much.

Yep. Exactly what’s been said since 2021 when the Prime 1 remaster was first rumored. It sucks Prime 2 and 3 can’t get the same level of attention as 1, but it’s better to have Retro focus all of their resources on Prime 4. The only question at this point is release timeframe.

That would be too reasonable for Nintendo. They’re going to release all 3 across different systems before finally giving us Metroid Prime Trilogy: Remastered. At $70 of course.
