I don’t get it, I end up walking more than 20 KM but I’m not receiving the 100 primal energy, am I doing something wrong? Does it have to be fully fed and walking on the map for it to count as walking? TIA!

Have primal evolved it first? Maybe it’s like mega energy,.where.you need.to mega evolve it to get the mega candy.
i answered this in a similar thread complaining the same issue. i had the same problem before with mega alteria and i wrote to niantic support for help.
their reply was it is not a 100% chance that you will receive mega energy when you gained a candy after walking the required distance.

It’s Niantic, don’t expect anything to work. I mostly did house work on the weekend and had a relaxing time.

Niantic has been paying Calvinball years before pokemon go was a thing.
From a behavior modification standpoint, the uncertain variable rewards (will you get it at the interval? Will you not get it at the interval? If it’s not guaranteed, then I’d say it’s uncertain) is strongest.

When does the primal fest end
For regular megas at least, you should get the indicated amount of mega energy and 1 candy guaranteed, with 1 xl candy being a variable chance depending on the pokemon’s level. As far as I know, in the modern mega system it’s never been a chance at getting the mega energy – always 100%.
I actually just read that you need to have the primal form dexed before you can get the primal candy this way. Had to buy more raid passes myself, since I was 10 short from catches/researches.
They’ll give you a free Nanab berry for your troubles.
idk about y’all, but a good amount of people in my area have been experiencing problems with with our km going up, as well as a ton of other issues so i’m just guessing the games tweakin rn
So I never received enough to primal evolve my groudon. I’m at 280. So if I walk it I won’t get anymore because I haven’t primal evolved it?

Are we sure this isn’t a glitch? We know that xls are NOT guaranteed but more likely if the Pokémon is a higher level, I know with mega energy on Pokémon from what I’ve seen it’s always been guaranteed, why would they change from that for primal energy?
Are you 100% sure? Because I got my 100 primal energy and no issues seen.
Switch your buddy and then switch it back. I’ve had this issue several times.
Have you already travelled more than 40km in the past 24 hours? Normally candy stops being rewarded if you’ve travelled too much in the span of a day, and that extends to mega energy too.

Niantic is a b!tch. It’s not guarantee to get 100 energies and I’m confused. That’s a lot of km.
It’s crazy how niantic can just constantly scam their customers, claim it’s due to bugs and give zero compensation.
There is a bug.
On and off for the past month a lot of people have had issues with walking not getting registered. some days it’ll work, other not.
I never reached out to Niantic specifically about this but I’m sure I’d get a response that candy is not guaranteed or something. Even though it’s the whole game not registering, no egg distance, candy, tasks, etc. Really sucks but there is nothing you can do but try another day.
There’s a cap on receiving candy and mega energy. If you walked 40km in a day you won’t receive candy or mega energy after this point till the following day when it refreshes.
Don’t advertise it as a reward for walking if it’s not guaranteed.

Do you always get mega/primal energy while walking a min as your buddy? Or do you have to unlock the mega first.

I didn’t know you could get it by walking, I got all mine through raids
Have nothing close to enough primal energy and never will. Can’t play like some can. Job, family, remote. Joined as many raids as I was able to. Sorry friends.
Ok why don’t i see this with my buddy? I don’t have that option to gain primal energy, i only have candy option for 20KM
Someone commented on one of my posts that you have to primal reverse it at least once to be able to gain primal energy when walking.
I haven’t tried it yet as I’m working on other buddies at the moment.
Will higher level of the Pokémon increased the chance of getting the primal energy? Also, poffin also increased the chance, right?

I thought Mega Energy was only given as a buddy KM reward along with Candy/Candy XL after you had Mega Evolved the Pokémon at least once. So this mechanic works different for Primals?
