Really hoping these get a physical release

  2. They probably didn’t keep the English va because the first one sounded like it was recorded in a tunnel.

  3. I can’t say I’m surprised. The first games English voice work sounded like it was recorded in a dozen different locations, none of them good, with equipment ranging from proper professional setup down to a $20 memo recorder. No amount of modern post-processing would fix that mess.

  4. LiquidCringe2

To be fair most English dubs for anything like this is pretty awful

  5. SlumLordOnion

I wanted a remaster but not like this…not like this! Lol the first game was one of my favorite rpgs and the second one I loved but never got around to beating. The unique aesthetic and narrative perspective was such a breath of fresh air. But this sounds like the barest of bones that one could just have a better experience trumping up an emulators settings. Im still going to throw my money at it because Im foolishly hoping this will drum interest in a 3rd but oy, they’re wild if its over 29.99 but they’re prb gonna push it at around 40.

Bandai Namco taking the cheap and easy route to profit.

30 fps… Switch shouldn’t have any problems reaching 60 fps in a basic Gamecube upscale. But it’s a JRPG so whatever.

The dub of BT1 was horrid and deserved to burn and be forgotten. That game needs a re-dub badly, but too expensive I guess….

The dub of Origins was pretty solid. That one should have been included at least.

Also, BT1 will have more languages like English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and so on. While Origins only has English. Because guess what, Origins never came out in Europe and they are just recycling the old scripts.

Now this screams **super cheap** to me.

  7. Concerned_Dennizen

The dub for Origins was good. Bummer they didn’t keep it in

  8. Materia99

Talk about being cheap. They absolutely have the opportunity to recording new voices.

    > Frame Rate: 30fps

This is GameCube ports and yet they can’t do 60? Oh man.

  9. mikemikemikeandike

This better get a physical release

  10. StoryAndAHalf

I’ll be honest, I was thinking this is one of those games that would have been forgotten, only to pop up in random YouTube videos about gems like Skies of Arcadia and (back in the day, Shenmue). I know this is pretty much least they could do next to nothing, but I’m glad people will have a chance to at least play them.

  11. TheEclipse0

Hm… that’s too bad. This is unfortunately a deal breaker for me.

  12. I loved the bad dub. Thats my childhood right there.

  13. Rimurutempest88

I found out about this about 2 hours after the direct and I almost cried lol.

  14. Rimurutempest88

Jrpgs allready have enough reading WITH an English dub. Come one I wanna play a game not read war and peace.

  15. I hope there’s a physical edition.

My hope is that they removed the english dub in order for the game to fit on smaller, cheaper cartridges but since the dub quality for BK1 was…not optimal, maybe they removed it for other reasons. Never played BK 2 Origin to judge it tho

Baten Kaitos is one of my favorite games, I absolutely adore it. This went from an instant buy for me to an instant pass, they already have English dubs of both games, so there’s no excuse not to include them. I know the voice acting in the first game is bad, but I love it and to me it’s just as much a part of the game as anything else. Thankfully I still have GameCube copies of both, I’ll just replay those.

  17. donttrustmeokay

Never played the original Baten Kaitos,.. but were the originals also in 30fps?

  18. Xelverah

After waiting 20 years for some news of these games, it’s really sad and awkward to have them remove the English voices, I know a lot of people hate them but I loved them, I grew up identifying these characters with those voices for 20 years and they gave heart and personality to those beloved characters, now it will just be super weird.

  19. yamammiwammi

Yeah………not really liking this decision at all. I get that it wasn’t great for the first one, but they could’ve made it toggle-able.

I love this series and this news just deflated my enthusiasm.

  20. azurianlight

Looking at all the comments was the dubbing in the first game really that bad!? I really don’t remember. I mostly just remember the opening to the game and that sweet ass song “Chaotic Dance”

  21. tigerarmy25

Very disappointing. I was super hyped for this initially but feels like a lazy nostalgia cash grab. Probably a pass for me in this state.

  22. SuperD00perGuyd00d

english dubs are usually not good anyway

  23. Neidhardto

The footage shows the game running at 60fps. Why are they listing it as 30? Must be a mistake.

  24. Majin_Bisharp

Damn that sucks, I was actually a big fan of hearing “Concerto” and “is that all you got” haven’t played the game in atleast a decade and those lines have stuck with me. Bummer.

  25. HarmlessSnack

I love JRPGs and remember being really excited when I first got BK for the GameCube… but it’s one of the only games I had for that system and never finished. I don’t think I even got very far. Got stuck super early in the game and couldn’t figure for the life of me how to progress.

Might have to pick up the release just to see it through. Seems to be beloved by a lot of gamers from that era.

  26. MeatTornadoGold

I didn’t realize both games were getting remastered!!!!

  27. JustCallMeTsukasa-96

What, did they lose all the audio files for the English dub or something? What’s the deal there?

  28. I’m ok with Japanese audio only if *everything* is subtitled. When I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I loved the Japanese VO, but there was lots of dialogue that was not subtitled, such as what they say in battle and things they say to each other when in the open exploration areas.

  29. haitechan

Kid me thought BK1 had the greatest voice acting ever lol. I would still have liked to have the option, specially since 2 had a pretty decent dub.

  30. Really getting stuck of Bandai Namco cheaping it on English voices. These games need an updated localization with new english VOs.

Another Bandai Namco product I won’t be purchasing.

  31. MedaFighterCross

Well, that’s a disappointment. I assume running these games over 30 fps breaks something. As for voice overs, was the English release heavily modified in a way that they didn’t bother with them?

  32. Unacceptable. Imma need that English Lyude voice.

  33. erstfuer41

This is everyones fault who bashed the voice acting.

  34. fawfulmark2

A small price to pay for salvation(on my wallet).

  35. currently__working

This is some weird monkey paw shit.

  36. Interesting_Snow_765

Nothing new for non english and Japanese speakers

  37. Boomshockalocka007

Everyone here saying they wont get it now because of the lack of voice acting? Like what? 🤣🤣🤣 Bye.

  38. SparklyPelican

I remember the OG English dub, still not sure why was recorded underwater.

  39. AladinsjustSayian

For anyone who has played the original, is there any part/mechanic of the game you hope gets modernized? It feels like a lot of Bandai’s remasters are just ports or at most improved graphics/models.

  40. The_Pepper_Oni

Origins had a fantastic dub, this sucks

  41. AdmiralToucan

I enjoy playing with the english dub and the tin effect goes away if you select a different audio option. Screw the anti-dub gatekeepers that probably never played the game to begin with. Dual audio should have been an option and this will be a turn off for a lot of potential buyers.
