That’s a hell of a lot of candy.
I should also add that all of the evolutions I obtained were already logged in my Pokédex, in order to not have the Registered to Pokédex animation play for any of them and maximize the XP gain.
This method works great with mons that use minimal candy to evolve but which spawn fairly often (Pidgey, Pidove, Whismur, Wurmple, Caterpie, Weedle) and with mons that have free evolutions if traded (Gastly-Haunter-Gengar 25 candy total for 2x evolutions; Machop-Machoke-Machamp 25 candy total for 2x evolutions; Geodude-Graveler-Golem 25x candy for 2x evos; Abra-Kadabra-Alamzam 25 candy total for 2x evolutions.
And for two stage evolutions if you trade the following Pokémon they’re 0 candy to evolve: Karrablast-Escavalier; Shelmet-Acceogor; Phantomp-Trevenant; Pumpkaboo-Gourgeist.
That’s been a trick since the game launched. It was called “Pidgey spam”.
I’ve never been able to go faster than about 1 every 20 seconds. If perfect, you could conceivably evolve 180 Pokémon during the hour. Probably not quite so many though.
Be sure to enable native FPS, everything should speed up/mitigate lag as well.

Is exiting and restarting the game after pressing evolve still quicker than waiting in game?
I got over 3M during the primal event a few weeks back. Evolved almost 700 pokemon. And evolved about 135 tonight; got 630k XP
I can appreciate the grind but I’m at a point where I just don’t care for XP or dust and get it as I go lol
Am I missing something or isn’t it just better to use a lucky egg when you have two people to become best friends. That’s 400k right there for just two people and you have the rest of the half hour to do whatever with the egg?
Or is the point being that you don’t have to rely on having the right friendship levels and instead get insane exp on your own.

I got about 623k for 155 evolutions, it was stressfull.
163 for the hour is my best. 652k.
If only there was a quick evolve trick like the quick catch, just imagine the XP gains.
I also did this but kinda sub optimally. I gained 300k+ xp and levelled up to 43. I didn’t plan before hand except keeping some 12 candy evos, I went through my hoard of pokemons and evolved whichever has extra candy.
I need to clean my storage of near 5k, most of them are lower-3* pokemon, which does nothing and plan for the next double xp event 🙂
I derped HARDCORE. On Monday it hit 6 PM. I was like “oh man! I gotta evolve my stuff.”
I had 150 ready to go. I popped 2 lucky eggs and went to town. I only realized it was Monday and not Tuesday at about 640PM.
It’s okay. There will be another spotlight hour with 2x exp.
But this is my go to method for easy exp. I am working toward level 49 & need like 18m exp. Evolves and best friends are the way to to go.

You can log into 3 devices and do it as well. If you have 300 Pokémon, that’s like 1.2 million in an hour
I got 650k for the full hour with lucky egg on
I did the same and got over 480k x with how many I evolved.
Honestly im not wasting an hour of my life for 300k XP
2016 me: Aww yeah I did the same.
2023 me: I made dinner and caught two Pokémon during that time.

I wanted to maximize my egg use, so I coordinated a couple friend bonuses as well and ended up with 1.5 million xp. Not a bad use of an egg.
You can use multiple devices. I’ve gotten ~250 evolutions in a half an hour at a leisurely pace on four devices.
i unfortunately was unable to sign in for hours yesterday and finally got signed in at 6:57 3 min before the spotlight hour ends
I did 50 for 200,000 XP plus a bunch of Ultra Friend level ups. I don’t usually take advantage of this Spotlight Hour bonus because I hate just having Pokemon sitting in the storage that I don’t need; but I’m less than 50M XP total away from having enough for Level 50.
It’s nice having a lot of 12 candy evolution Pokemon spawning during this season.
I still only use lucky eggs when you get ultra friends and best friends. You can get 3 million for ultra and 6 million for best friends in less than 20 mins
I really need to set timers for spotlight hour. I always forget. Yesterday I caught exactly one rowlet.

I managed 636k this time around and I know there’s still some room for improvement. I stopped at 657 to make sure the xp would log, but I think stopping at 659 will leave plenty of time.
Same. I did 178k but mostly because I wasn’t ready with pidgeys or caterpies so evolved a bunch of random recents that I had.
I got 326290 but didn’t start until 6:15. Definitely worth it if the Mons spawning are trash non-shiny.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned just catching mons in busy places during 2x and 3x xp events. I can land excellent very regularly. I’ve hit over 400k xp in 30 minutes many times. Speed catches and excellent catches are crucial to learn though.
