  1. Yup accurate review, the visuals are washed. But as someone who is obsessed with skating and simulation, this scratches the itch just fine (also I triple dipped for this game on PC and Xbox)

Anyone else unable to change camera direction with left/right on the d pad?

    **Pros:**
    – It’s a skateboarding sim on Switch.
    – Plenty of customization options for how the game can handle grinding, flip tricks and a lot of other trick related stuff.
    – Plenty of advanced options that let you customize many different aspects of the game like gravity, push speed, “pop” (ollie) height, etc.
    – Like I seriously can’t list off every single customization option in the game. There’s so many. It can be daunting but I love games that go as deep into user gameplay customization as this game does.
    – Once you somewhat figure out what the hell you’re doing, you can hit some nice lines and land some nice tricks.
    – Map looks nice.
    – Has experimental features like primos and caspers and you can even do darkslides holy shitttttt.

    **Cons:**
    – It’s not Skate 4, or at the very least, Skater XL.
    – Graphics look terrible at times, especially your skater’s textures.
    – I noticed when editing my skater (staring at the closet door in the apartment) that if I panned the camera side to side, the room lighting would go fucked (go really bright when facing to the right, then go dark when facing left).
    – It’s just about as buggy as it was when I last played it on PC 2 years ago.
    – Why does performing an ollie in Session have to be so fucked compared to Skater XL? I just want Skate 3 style controls.
    – Player animations are stiffer than a frozen possum hanging from a tree.
    – Running around off your board feels like ice skating at times. The player model’s running animations don’t help portray some semblance of semi-realistic running.

I could go into a shit-ton of detail but I don’t want to be here typing this up all day.

Despite the overwhelming cons for me, I’m likely gonna keep the game so I have something to toy around with until Skater XL hits the Switch at some point Soon™️. I know a lot of people do like Session but I honestly get bored of it real quick. Skater XL is what brought me back to my days playing Skate 1 through 3 on the 360 (100%’d all 3 games babyyyyy).

I was thinking of nabbing it for PS4 since it’s on sale there right now—imagining the graphics issues will be better, but I imagine that the running physics will be just as weird.

I mostly want to play this one for the roster. Goddamit I just wanna be Louie Barletta doing goofball Louie tricks.
