I’m really excited! This looks really good.

I really don’t understand people saying they don’t like the artstyle. It doesn’t look too dissimilar from the art style of the the GBA games imo. Plus, it reminds me of the art style of Shantae, which is pretty good too.

I love the animated portraits and the animation for the cutscene and CO powers are really cool to look at.

Trying to decide if I want to use my other voucher for this along with TotK

  3. MXC_Vic_Romano

That 3D art style is just so unfortunate. Those grey tanks in the opening of this trailer practically look like stock assets. They nailed the character portrait art though.

All the delays made me go back and play the originals which still hold up quite well; 2 and Dual Strike are amazing games.

  4. Tashomire

I think my big disappointment is the non inclusion of dual strike. I feel like you could have fit the whole trilogy onto a single switch cart. Crash and spyro managed it, and those were full console games.

You can tell this is a Wayforward game because even Jess has some extra *cough* bounce to her.

Man I still don’t get how WayForward FINALLY manages to annoy Nintendo into letting them make a first-party game, and they go with Advance Wars? A game in a genre they’ve never worked on with more online infrastructure than they’ve ever had to manage.

  6. sviunapad

Did they fix the issue where opponent AI can see through fog of war?

I love turn-based strategy stuff, but I have a question about this game: how does it compare to Wargroove in terms of difficulty and also in terms of the size of battles? I really wanted to like Wargroove but it was just too much for me. The battles really dragged on in a lot of cases and the size of the maps was often overwhelming.

  8. PizzaPino

Is this game for someone that hasn’t really played strategy games? I have only played FE3H and that was alright.

  9. Galaxy91122

Holy shit the Fast forward feature is huge

  10. Getupkid1284

I look forward to getting my preorder that I placed 22 months ago 🤣

  11. The people in this comment section using the “Look at how they massacred my boy” meme are incredibly cringe lmao

The game literally looks fine. Yes, the 3D models are a little simple and plain looking, but it fits with the toy-like, board game style they are going for in the maps.

  12. TheBaxes

I still feel that this should have been priced at 40 and not 60 dollars.

  13. Milksteak_To_Go

Coming from *Into The Breach*, will I enjoy this?

  14. As someone who’s never played the series, should I? I mean, I understand it’s a classic, but I played so much Fire Emblem, Into the Breach… what’s the hook here in your opinion?

  15. lacaras21

Looking forward to it, wish online play supported more than 2 players though.

  16. MileHighRC

I would have never even considered this game if I hadn’t played it as a kid.

I feel like it’s not going to sell well, but don’t care I’m buying it and I can’t wait lol

One of the most addicting strategy games ever made IMO

  17. Slurm818

The first Advance Wars got me through Afghanistan on a Gameboy Advance. Glad to see it’s still getting attention

  18. Zaszo_00

The current visual style is too cartoony for me. Wish they had gone with 2d-3d style like Triangle Strategy,Octopath etc.

But Im glad they decide to bring back the series.

  19. JamesUpton87

I really dislike this art style. Yet I want to buy it anyway just to support the AW franchise and a support a possible revival.

But what if a new game uses this art style?

    So conflicted.

  20. thetechoftacos

Why is online mode only with friends? They should’ve put in a quick match mode.

  21. redditposter-_-

The infantry look weird and the 3d art is kinda cheap looking..

  22. GrimmTrixX

It’s the only game I have left preordered at Gamestop . I preordered it when I worked there…2 years ago lol

I liked wargroove for some time but eventually the difficulty spike did me in, on the other hand I played both of these advance wars games completely through including challenge maps back in the day and loved it.

Wargroove just isn’t the same. It’s a nice attempt though.

  25. worldsinho

I was a HUGE Command & Conquer fan. Probably my most played game, ever. Been gaming 30+ years.

I don’t game on PC anymore, haven’t for 12 or so years.

This is the only game on console which comes close to the quality and strategy of C&C……

It’s not even that similar, if at all! But I’m excited – and never too old for that.

  26. moltenman85

I’m so ready to sink some time into this one. I didn’t play these way back when on the GBA. I stayed FAR away from strategy games. In my adult years, I find them relaxing. Can’t wait to play.

  27. Carlos123wx

I played the Advance Wars 1, and is a so good game! For who like strategy games, have my recommendation!

  28. Nycetech

I wish they gave the option for a widescreen version of the game boy advance games. I think that the sprites had more charm than these particular 3D graphics, which look a bit low effort.

  29. Mufasasdaddy

Guess this mean we won’t be seeing these games on the gba app anytime soon.
