  1. I mean yeah of course. Nintendo isn’t doing this out of the goodness of their heart.

  2. Environmental_Run634

It has been the case in the UK for a couple of years. US even longer. Seems like the EU is taking credit for something they shouldn’t be to me.

  3. And we thank them for that

Seriously tho, next Switch, hall-effect sensors please, it’s really in their interest in the end

Man the LinkedIn comments there are full of lunatics holy shit.

“Why aRe you bRaGgInG AbouT SoMeThIng THIs sTupID WhEn ARe aRe wARS GoInG ON sHoUlDn’t yOu BE WoRkInG On mOrE IMPORtAnT STUfF?”

I don’t even… like do they think the entire European Commission stopped everything to focus on joycons? Do they think the people that work in the fuckin’ consumer protection committees are responsible for resolving the ~~was~~ war with Russia?

    Edit: typo

  5. In cases like this, “agreement” often means that a bunch of lawyers came together to create a compromise that’s about equal to what a court would have ruled anyway, so that the whole thing does not have to go to court in the first place.

    The agreement they reached

    “I get: happy consumers

    You get: nothing”

  7. This is wildly unsurprising. Not only is this exactly the sort of thing the EU and its various agencies would do, it’s also entirely inconceivable that Nintendo would do this of their own accord.

  8. The1andonlygogoman64

Well now i only gotta remember to actually send em in for repair

  9. sakipooh

if only our governments here would be so vigilant.

  10. Why not fix the issue permanently when they released the OLED?

  11. NodrawTexture

Mine are out of garranty and are drifting. How to reach ?

  12. jailsonmsjunior

I am must be the only one that never had a single problem with my Joy-Cons. And I have 6. Oh, and I have a Switch since launch. 🤔

Ladies and gentlemen here is nintendo presenting the switch:

    – no easy access to online/privacy settings
    – no 2nd shelf for NSO/Media apps
    – no ability to pin games at the front of the list
    – no achievement system for the switch
    – no sorting or arranging your friends Iist
    – no folders on switch home screen
    – no themes and music for the switch
    – no background music for the switch eshop
    – no switching bluetooth audio from the home screen
    – no switching wifi from the home screen
    – no add to cart button for eshop

Anything else that is not available on switch ?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper for Nintendo to just… stop selling defective controllers?

  15. Midget_Avatar

Does anybody know how this works out with limited edition joycons? My friend has the let’s go Pikachu and Eevee ones with horrible drift and I’d be worried if she sent them in only to get back the generic blue and red ones.

  16. if i was nintendo, i’d sue for sony and microsoft to have to fix sticks out of warranty too

  17. Good job EU, now do the same with Dualsense.

  18. Thought this was possible even before. My brother sent in his Joycons last year to Nintendo and they were repaired/replaced for free. He bought his Switch in 2018.

  19. chocotripchip

Duh, corporations never do things for free out of their heart lol

  20. *Sad south American noises*
Im ordering some joycon parts on aliexpress to fix it myaelf cause im sick of the damn drift (I’ve died tons of times in botw cause of this)

  21. jetstobrazil

This seemed obvious to me by not including any other regions and serves as a reminder of the consumer protections we would have in the US if congress wasn’t bought and paid for by corporations and elites.

I could be charging everything in USB-C having a full set of working joy cons.

    Reverse citizens United

  22. Minimum-Concept4000

Are they actually fixing them or just sending out refurbished ones? The latter sucks as anyone with special edition controllers still get shafted.

  23. midnitte

At what point does this cost too much money for Nintendo, and they replace the joysticks with Hall Effect sensors?

  24. enflame99

Honestly say what you like about the eu but personally I feel really good about it it has done nothing but improve my life in everyway and I find the progress they make to effect change good it is slow but democracy is. I am very proud to be European and part of the union. Consumer and refund protection should be a human right screw the big companies diluting people’s rights.

  25. TheGridGam3r

Id rather all controllers make the push to hal joysticks so drift is completely gone

  26. mergedloki

I don’t expect this kind of corporate benevolence to reach North America anytime soon

  27. Tincruures

Hope Sony is next their shitty dual sense also start drifting everytime short after warranty ends. And even way worse than my joycons. Where I can still use my joycons because the drift is there but not that bad the dual sense becomes a pile of plastic garbage drift is so bad I can’t even use the menu anymore

  28. nekosama15

Y’all getting shit done over there???

Meanwhile the USA can’t tie their own damn shoes.
