Full game list: Kung fu, devil world, golf, DKJR Math, Yoshi’s cookie, Startropics 2: Soda’s revenge, Mario is missing, Mario’s Time Machine; duck hunt, yoshi’s safari, Mario paint, trick shooting, battle clash, metal combat, wild gunman, stack up, gyromite, Mario and wario, super scope 6, gumshoe, hogan’s alley; F-1 Race, Fire emblem Thracia 776, Fire emblem Gaiden, Mysterious Murasame Castle, Super famicom wars, Wrecking crew 98, Time Twist, Shin Onigashima, Itoi Shigesato no Bass Tsuri, Sutte Hakkun, Yuyuki, Heisei Shin Onigashima, most Satteleview games, Marvelous; SMRPG, Metal Slade Glory, Simcity, Vegas Stakes, Mach Rider, knight move

Note: I left off license games like Popeye but apparently barker bill’s trick shooting is a license game so ignore that one. Both famicom detective club games were left off the list just cause they are available on the eshop. FE1 was also left off the list as why’ll the English version isn’t available, it is still playable in Japanese and I didn’t want to create an entire category dedicated to it.

Edit: Apparently gyromite doesn’t require Rob and can actually be played with just a 2nd controller. I can’t find if stack up has the same feature but gyromite is at least playable without Rob. Also it looks like Mario’s Time Machine and Mario is missing either belongs in the partially own category or potentially shouldn’t be on the list. I assumed Nintendo fully owns them since they star solely Mario characters but since Nintendo didn’t publish/develop either of them it might be a Zelda CDI situation where the devs just borrowed the rights to the characters.

I think another company developed and published the Mario is Missing and Mario’s Time Machine, so they may not fully own those games.

I feel like the list has to be longer than this, but maybe that’s just the expectation in my mind and not reality.

Would love if Mario rpg could make it onto the service

  4. micharwood

Played Vegas Stakes so much back in the day… that would be fun to do again!

  5. ElektrikDynomite

Thank you! I was looking for something like this for reference

  6. Dukemon102

It’s almost a rule of the universe that Super Mario RPG gets added to a console when it’s already dead or about to release a successor (Except for Wii).

  7. MichaelMJTH

I hope that Super Famicom Wars is added to the NSO at some point (at least the Japanese app). I enjoy that game, even if it is not as balanced as later entries.

A few corrections to make. As someone else mentioned, Nintendo don’t own either Mario is Missing or Mario’s Time Machine, neither game being developed or published by Nintendo. Nintendo don’t own Kung Fu either, the original arcade game (being a licensed game) being developed by Irem. Yoshi’s Cookie also isn’t fully owned by Nintendo either, with the puzzle mechanic licensed to them by Henk Rogers, now of the Tetris Company. Urban Champion has also been (perhaps rightfully) forgotten.

This actually drives home (to me, at least) how impressive NSO’s selection really is. Outside of a few listed here, most of the big games are already accounted for.

  10. RyanReturns2

Out of all of these, Golf and Yoshi’s Cookie are the strangest omissions to me, in that I can’t think of why they wouldn’t add them. The others either have licensing issues, control issues, or are very obscure, so to an extent I can see why they have not been added yet, even if I would want them there.

  11. BustermanZero

Are any Fire Emblem games currently on there?

  12. KaelAltreul

I’d love an English release of Fire Emblem Gaiden like they did with FE1, but not that exclusive bullshit.

  13. Ofunatoofunato

This is a great list! Smaller than what I would have expected and not too many exciting games left.

Would love to see similar lists for the other NSO consoles.

  14. NintendadSixtyFo

Mario RPG would really complete the SNES catalog for me personally.

  15. Mikeyg808

If they could get Duck Hunt to work and sell a gun peripheral, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Although as I’m typing this, I just now realize. Nintendo isn’t going to sell a gun in 2023.

  16. ZzzSleep

I’m surprised they haven’t released Zoda’s Revenge yet.

  17. kuribosshoe0

Mario RPG is the only thing on this list I even slightly care about.

  18. ConoRiot

I know we have the NES version but please Nintendo, release the SNES Wario Woods!! My favourite puzzle game of all time.

  19. vaporking23

That list is not nearly as big as I thought it was.

  20. SerplePurple

We really do need duck hunt on NSO, like use the joy con as the light zapper, detecting the movement like the Wii controllers.

  21. MelvintheMIU

Gyromite would be pretty dope to play again. Yes I’m old

  22. RedRumRoxy

I’m just a guy who wishes we could get the tiny toons games man. I know Nintendo doesn’t own them. But man they were so good T.T
Shame how many classics we won’t get because of licensing.

  23. Reset_Tears

Star Tropics 2 is the big one for me that’s missing. I wonder what the holdup for that is? I quite enjoyed my playthrough of the first Star Tropics and was kinda looking forward to the second.

  24. What about NES Tetris? It was developed and published by Nintendo. Obviously there’s licensing with The Tetris Company but GB Tetris came to NSO.

  25. Does the SNES version of Wario’s Woods count? That never gets ported.

  26. brianfine

I find the lack of Snake Rattle ‘n Roll disturbing

  27. pierrekrahn

Mario paint could easily be ported to the Switch. Instead of a mouse it could use the touchscreen (or even one of the joysticks but that wouldn’t be as fun)

  28. wild_zoey_appeared

Mysterious Murasame Castle was localized and released on 3DS

  29. Sand__Panda

I made my parents spend so much money on batteries so I could play Super Scope 6. That was such a neat game (and Yoshi’s Safari).

Mario RPG is still holds a special spot in my heart, as it was the first “rpg” that I played after getting it at a yard sale for like $5.

  30. Forever3kco

I know it’s owned by Capcom but really wish they would add zombies ate my neighbors, one of my favorites
