    The maximum is 27, which requires Ultra Buddy level.
    I have gotten it in the past, but in my screenshots the highest I could find is 24 hearts.

    To get 27 you must:

    * Get your buddy excited (through a poffin or by feeding it, playing with it, etc. every 30 minutes or something like that)
    * Get all the normal hearts (which you can then get twice), so walk a bunch, battle a bunch, etc.
    * You must get the two bonus gifts (which you get from Great Buddy, or two hearts) and the one “find a location” heart (which requires Ultra Buddy, or three hearts)

    The one thing that takes the longest is getting the buddy excited (or that is the shortest, if you use a poffin), then walking a bunch and the gifts/location just requires some luck to get.

    Yeah I do regularly, I get my buddy excited without a poffin for a new best buddy every 2-3 weeks, so most of these hearts are double too.

    I’ve never gotten all the walking ones bc the tracking doesn’t work for crap

    I’ve gotten 26 a few times, and I think I got 27 once. If I get it again I’ll have to screenshot it

    I’m going to try when we go on vacation later this month. That new location one is a pain without traveling. I never think about it ahead of time. But in 3 weeks, the time has come!
