Never played this as nom Nintendo 64. Is it worth it?
Out of curiousity, what happens when you try to transfer pokemon? Does it say you need a transfer pak or something?
It’s hard for me to tell in the title alone – is this only for the premium NSO subscribers?
Rental pokémon, meh
I’ll just take out my N64 to play this gem of a game ❤️
“Transfer Pak included!”
“On Switch Online + Expansion Pack!”
…but you cannot use the transfer pack feature
This game is incomplete without being able to transfer over Pokémon from Game Boy.
Now, Pokémon prints money, they aren’t just gonna put it on Gameboy NSO for free for all subscribers. They should, but they won’t. They already charge you 3 bucks a month just to store Pokémon. But I think they’re gonna put Red, Blue, Gold, etc behind a second paywall and allow transfer to this game
I can’t find it on my n64 app. Anyone know why?
Give me Red/Blue so I can transfer Pokemon please
Playing with online buddies. And we are all arguing already. 😂
Are the movesets at least different for the rental pokemon?
I wanted to be hyped, but playing Pokémon Stadium with only rentals is pretty disappointing (and difficult as hell), I’ll pass that one on.
I hope that if one day Gen 1/2 reaches the NSO (if it ever does since we’re talking about the Pokémon Company) they’ll put compatibility between the two, seriously, we don’t even have access to GB Tower, it’s practically an incomplete game which is kinda disappointing after the exceptional job Nintendo did putting the e-reader levels into Super Mario Advance 4 on the GBA.
Can you play the mini games locally? Want to try this out with my fam!
Does it feel like there is noticeable input lag on the mini games. I’m using the n64 switch controller and it feels like a 1-2s delay when I push a button in the mini games.
Is this free?!
Until I read this comment section my whole life I thought the reason people liked the game was the rental pokemon, I always thought it was awesome to choose any Pokémon as a kid
This is going to be super tough with just rental Pokemon. I heard it is possible, but very specific.
What’s the point of this game if you can only use rentals? At least let us customize movesets.
Just had a fun time with Brock. His fire spin Vulpix and bind Onix.
I woulld gladly pay another fee if this was compatible with Home and Home had some mechanism to convert pokemon to Gen 1/2 compatibility.
Nintendo is so well situated to nickle and dime people for nostalgia, but they also do the bare minimum.
IMO only worth it for the minigame fun (in which case I hope Stadium 2 rolls around soon), clearing all the modes with just rentals sucked from what I remember. 11-12 year old me might’ve been fine wasting time on it for the hell of it when I wasn’t using my own stuff, but older me wants no part of that.
I’m stuck on Misty…holy shit these rentals suck ass!
This is useless without Red/Blue/Yellow available on the GBC app, or being able to interact with these games via the Doduo/Dodrio tower to leverage greater speed.
Should have released Red/Blue and Yellow Pokemon with it, so we could transfer our own Pokemon. Would have been sick. This i can just play on an emulator.
WHATS THE POINT OF SPLASHING??
I never played this game before because I was a baby but the comments are killing my vibe. Is it actually that bad?
Why is it the AI seems broken I get to the final 4 and game just breaks they spam wrap or other moves making me just sit there looking at the game all disgusted with how it works compared to back in the day on the n64
What’s the point? The whole charm of the game is connectivity to Red/Blue/Yellow. Without it, it’s a shell of its former self. Battles are done with rental Pokemon, GB Tower is pointless, as is Oak’s Lab, gift Pokemon received after beating the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 don’t go anywhere and facing Mewtwo is nigh impossible. The only thing you _can_ do is mini-games, but that’s like 10% of the entire game. Get on it, GameFreak! Give is Red/Blue/Yellow connectivity!
Excellent!!
People taking about transferring mons and this being incomplete. I didn’t transfer anything as a kid you just played mini games and dealt with the shitty rental mons. This is the way.
Even though I am really happy with Pokémon Stadium being on the Switch, it also reminds me just how archaic and slow everything is with Nintendo.
Monetization speculations aside, how do you launch the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance emulators without **THE** most iconic games from those consoles? Aka the Pokémon games. Especially not doing it before Pokémon Stadium so you could enable transfers when it dropped on the N64 emulator.
Form archaic practices and infrastructures to olg geezer-like stubbornness, Nintendo can be the most frustrating mainstream console company to deal with.
I want to play this but I don’t want to pay the expansion pack :/
People saying only rentals sucks… do RNG teams. You may get lucky and get a Kadabra or get screwed and get a Charizard with no good moves or a first stage mon with great moves
It’s a fun time
Now give us Pokemon red/blue on Switch you ghouls
This game is better with the rental Pokemon, it’s the only Pokemon game that is actually challenging.
Won’t get into the Rental vs Transfer debate (you should be able to transfer!!!) but I will say this game holds up beautifully in comparison to the newer games even. The careful animations per Pokémon is fantastic.
Just about anything the switch has thrown at me, I already own. I don’t take it out of the house ever. I think I have regrets. It’s turned into a since you didn’t have a gamecube or wiiu try this ga….oh you had a gamecube and a wiiu….well shit… nevermind then.
This will probably be fun nostalgia for people who grew up with the minigames, but I think this is a worthless game without being able to connect Gen 1 Pokemon games to it. Still clinging to hope that we’ll eventually get Red, Blue, and Yellow on the eShop that can work with NSO Stadium
The emulation seems to be a bit broken… It’ s flagging several move combinations as illegal, which can be seen when the moves and the trainer’ s name are highlighted in red.
It doesn’t affect gameplay at all (asisde from the game calling everyone a cheater for no reason lol), but it’s very noticeable and it does mean they messed up the emulation somehow.
People here defending Nintendo and the PC for not having RBY and transfer ability is hilarious. We wonder why they do the bare minimum and this is why.
all this work and no surfchu payoff
