Patricia Summersett has announced she is reprising her role as Princess Zelda in Tears of the Kingdom!
I’ve been given the thumbs up by Nintendo to confirm that I am reprising my role as Princess Zelda in Legend of #Zelda: #TearsoftheKingdom.
I’m obviously beyond thrilled to be back (Thank you Nintendo) and looking forward to May 12th! 🧝🏼♀️🐸 pic.twitter.com/FDizUzi3Gp— Patricia Summersett (@Summersett_) May 1, 2023

I’m confused, the trailer(s) have been out for a while with new Zelda vocals in it, so we already knew the same voice actress was back? Weird that Nintendo are only now allowing her to say “yes it is me” when we’ve heard her voice already a while ago and knew it was her.
dope, I will be putting the voice acting to japanese because the first one had horrible english VA IMO
Nothing takes me out of a Zelda game more than Zelda speaking
I really hope we have the option to change to japanese VA from release this time.
Welp, I guess I’ll be playing this one with Japanese audio, too, then…
Jesus… as a British person there’s no way I’m listening to that poor English accent again. Bring on the Japanese VA.
No disrespect to the actress but it’s not a good fit, get an English person to do it if Zelda must have a posh English accent.
Her “British” accent was the most painful part of the game 😫
Whelp I hope her Twitter feed is being nice to her.
Her performance in BOTW was one of the weakest parts of the game so let’s hope we can get some language options on launch at least.
It’d be nice if it was at least terrible enough to be funny as opposed to just soul-draining.
Her zelda voice acting was quite breathy. Not sure I like it that much.
So stoked to hear Princess Renaissance Faire Accent is returning!
Seems I’m the only one who likes her voice haha.
Am I the only person who doesn’t mind the voice acting for the princess? Link never speaking breaks my immersion more than Summersett reading her lines.
No exaggeration my least favorite part of the game.
Bloody hell
Feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t mind her voice at all
Breath of the Wild had the WORST voice acting I think I have EVER HEARD in professional media that I consider successful/good. It was horrific. I switched to Japanese almost immediately. The english voice acting was just atrocious.
It seems a lot of people weren’t fully on board with her performance in BotW. I thought her voice was decent but I can understand the criticisms.
Her voice was much better however in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Zelda was more active in the story and the voice direction she must have been given for that game really drew out a more refined and believable Zelda voice from her.
Assuming that improvement carries on into this game, I look forward to how she sounds. There’s been nothing standout from the trailers, then again there’s not been many story moments revealed, so there’s plenty of room for surprise.
Zelda’s voice in botw was one of the weakest parts of the game in my opinion, however it was a lot better in Age of Calamity so I don’t have any problems with them keeping her.
Some of the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard. They probably pay her nothing and quality will have 0 impact on sales of the game and Nintendo knows that
People harp on her performance in BotW, but I thought she sounded better in Age of Calamity so hopefully she’ll build on that.
Definitely using Japanese voices because of her and Matt Mercer’s uninspired renditions of the characters.
¯_(ツ)_/¯ so?
There are leaks with audio and the trailers clearly has her asking Link to find her.
I can’t wait to disable the voice acting or listen to it in Japanese. The english dub in BotW was atrocious.
I don’t mind. But the voice acting in BOTW… left a lot to be desired.
Kind of weird to put so much time and money into making a great game, and then settling with mediocre voice acting with butchered accents. I hate to be a hater, and I mean no disrespect, but Zelda’s voice sticks out like a sore thumb in this game.
I loved her at her worst (can’t unlock her sealing power), and I’ll love her at her second worst (having an objectively bad English accent)
Let’s hope her British accent got better. I didn’t mind it too much in the original as I think her overall tone fitted the character, but the accent could use a little work.
Just change to the Japanese voice, adds more feeling. And subtitles. Watch some anime if you need to get used to it. Win-win in my book.
Honestly the voice acting in the English version was awful and cringe at times
I’ve met her, she’s really sweet. I feel bad because her voice is a really good fit for Zelda, but I think the cast wasn’t given good direction for BOTW. The trailers (and leaks) have given me enough hope that the VA is on the right track.
My issue with the voice is not that it’s “british”

Is that it makes Zelda sound old. She sounds like an angsty 40 yo woman not a 17 _(15?) year old
Yo Warmonger from the hit game For Honor is voicing Zelda again
Personally, I’m one of the people who found the forced British accent and the “damsel in distress” resting pitch of her voice to be really, really grating in BotW. But am happy for folks who weren’t as bothered.
I haven’t played Zelda games. I thought they didn’t have voices.
I cannot stand Zelda’s voice in BotW. The accent is weird, and she sounds too breathy, imo.
COOL. *goes back to Japanese language*
Not being great with accents, all this time I thought they got a British VA to do her voice – which I thought was somewhat bizarre, but whatever. Now I see that she isn’t even British. SO WHAT WAS THE POINT OF GIVING HER THE ACCENT?!?!
How is this news? It was obvious in the trailers when Zelda talked it was the same person.
Why? Her melodramatic take on zelda was pretty much the opposite of what the voice should have been.
Bummer. I hated Zeldas voice in BOTW
Zelda’s dialogue was super weak in BotW, so my expectations are set to 0, and I’m being generous.
I liked it more when TLOZ didn’t have voice acting and I made the voices for the characters in my head.
Seems like a weird time to announce that but ok?
I think I’m the only one who absolutely loved her voice acting…
