Everything you see in this little mockup appears in some form of Switch dock on the market. Up front it includes all of the features of the OLED dock, including the LAN Ethernet port. Additionally, there are third party docks that can double as a charging stand while playing in tabeltop mode, there are third party docks that have GameCube controller ports built right into them, negating the need for the GameCube controller 4-port adapter. There are third party docks with more than 3 USB ports, there are third party docks with built in speakers, and there are even at least 2 third party docks with a built in screen projector.
Now I took some liberties to make mine more ultimate, the available screen projector docks can output up to a 100″ screen, and 1 can go up to 720p. But after looking into it, there are modern projectors that run for less than $100 and can still output up to 1080p with 100″, this should be feasible therefore to build in a similar dock for the Switch. I also made an assumption in the description about GameCube games, it’s very possible they never join Switch Online, but if they do, it would quickly increase the value of having built in GameCube controller ports.

Might as well attach a Wii at this point.

Very cool!!

I see those usb ports are usb 3, unfortunately there is a good reason why nintendo never enabled usb 3 on the old dock, its because usb 3 actually interferes with Bluetooth signals while they’re active, thus it would cause input delays and random disconnects of our controllers if it was active.
I discovered this when i had my Bluetooth adapter for my pc plugged into a usb 3 port and kept having connection issues. After researching online and seeing the Bluetooth and usb problem, i moved the adapter to a usb 2 well away from the 3s and it solved the problem.

Can we add a fridge to it?
Because that boi would need some great cooling, otherwise your switch will probably just melt to it.
Also, Nintendo fans and not letting go of the Gamecube controller, name a more iconic duo.

Take out the projector and I think it’s a viable (but overly expensive) product.
alanhaha
Projector can be very hot. It may melt down Switch.
PlexasAideron
Putting the switch right next to the projector vents (or anywhere near) sounds like a great idea OP.
Existing365Chocolate
The projector would melt the Switch
Especially with the vents blocked by the console

Trying to figure out where I’d have that thing such that I’d use both the projector and the tabletop play feature — which are, conveniently, at a right angle relative to each other, so I can’t use them both from the same seat without messing with the projector’s alignment.
MightyMukade
Where’s the coffee pod machine? :O
Tabularity
I love the idea of an ultimate switch dock.
I don’t think I like the idea of having a projector since the other comments already pointed out how hot it can get thus accelerating the degradation of the Switch.
Having it smaller with no projector and with all of the additional features that’s already detailed here would make it a very desirable dock.
Maybe for a Switch 2 or a whatever successor the Switch will have.
Picollini
I think that the only feature “I’d kill for” in Nintendo Switch dock would be the ability to plug-in multiple game cartridges into it so when the Switch is docked you can access docked cartridge games.

Cost: $299

Ugly as hell

Hear me out. For the Switch 2, it’s basically an upgraded Switch in handheld mode, but the dock now supports discs backward compatible Gamecube through Wii U. And why not, have a mode where you can bring the disc spinning with you like a Walkman CD Player.

Y’all are really obsessed with a 20+ year old controller that wasn’t even the best of its generation, like honestly can we just let the GC controller die yet?
MineParadoxCraft
You could get the Ayn Odin dock and get N64 and GC controller ports.
blackcatwizard
This is actually awesome
Necessary_Bug_9862
That’s a lot of tech for such a small device.
BrewCrewBall
I added some miniature plastic clips on the back of the standard dock to hold the joy-con straps to keep my kids from losing them. Might be an additional design idea.
Conscious-Golf-5380
Cool concept, now let’s slap a projector inside it to push the price to $500 so that nobody can afford it.
StardustRyanAAI2
remove the projector and it’s feasible
ri-mackin
Playing on a big screen… “on the go”
remirixjones
This reminds me of “The Ultimate Laptop™️” that I designed when I was, like, 13. That is to say…I love this so much.
edcculus
I’d take all that except the built in projector
CionSAGA
That dock is lit bro….. literally.
shirts21
I think remove the projector and game cube ports and it would sell well. I just don’t think Nintendo would do this. Some brave soul would need to lead the charge
CaspianX2
I think I prefer the Covert Dock’s portability.
WitchTrialz
I don’t see an extra extra large cup holder for my big gulp.

“With hookers and slot machines!!”
But in all seriousness, with built-in speakers, a 1080p projector, the ports, will this cost more or less than a switch?
JoeChagan
Do you want a broken USB-C port? Because that’s how you get broken USB-C ports.
wumbology34
Someone’s already making one of these for the smash community with everything except the projector lol
itsastart_to
You gotta sacrifice on something: compactness, features, cost and quality because good lord this is not plausible with its current design for this to be a product for either Nintendo or the average consumer
Fredderov
Does it come with Skyrim built in?
Bostongamer19
Needs hdmi 2.1 ports
ToQuoteSocrates
Great! Even better if it has a build in battery as well so it could be use as a powerbank or for projecting on the go
witwebolte41
Let the gamecube go
DanglyPants
“For when gamecube games get added to switch online”
I would die of happiness if this happened but I don’t think it will. That’s a lot of memory
Dsyre2
And then there’s me who wishes for a new Switch Lite with Oled, bigger screen, and better battery life.
ohbyerly
I’m not sure why everyone is jumping down OP’s throat about the technicalities, the idea is to present cool features to be included along with the Switch’s design. You could leave the rest up to an R&D team. I never once thought of the inclusion of a projector with a console but that’s a genius idea.
That2Things
I’m certainly not any kind of expert on this stuff, but I would think an on-the-go projector would make a lot more sense if it was short throw, which I believe need a bigger lens than you’d realistically fit into a switch dock.
M4J0R4
Why no ports for SNES and N64 controller?
Pleasant_Plantain
u kno how how LED projectors or any projectors get? RLY HOT…
it would roast the switch if it sat on top of it.
Aardvarcado-
a latch to secure the console maybe?
hate how one little bump screws everything up, could use a latch
TheTyler0013
I just want a dock that acts as an external GPU.
Superloopertive
I’d like for the projector to be adjustable so the angle could be changed. Otherwise great!
foreveralonesolo
Could I ask how you ended up making this mock up?
maxwellGregoryP
Is this just a concept or is this available for purchase somewhere?
