Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player’s real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.

Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

  1. The most active campfire user in my area asked my son’s age and has tried to ask all kinds of personal info including asking if I lived in the suburb that the group was for. He said he would love to meet up and trade my son some of the Pokémon he wants. I am very skeptical and it has made me feel uncomfortable. I thought about deleting the app. It could be innocent, but at least 10 of his questions made me uncomfortable.

  2. Elite raids need almost no communication. Like literally a sentence at most. Starting at point A at whatever time. Then head to point B etc. Be there or be square. Also used flares at an elite raid and people just started showing up asking if I was the person who lit the flares. Met a bunch of new people and I'm in a small town.

  3. Campfire needs a massive massive massive overhaul. First there needs to be a toggle on toggle off button. Nobody should ever be forced to use an app. Next able to set a radius around how far you want to go. You should be able to pinpoint gyms to always get notifications, a GPS function would be really amazing. And a touch on to the safety aspect. You should be able to set an emergency contact number that person can view where you're at just in case something happens. I'm not talking about a permanent tracer on somebody but if you respond to a flair that person should be notified that you're going out.

  4. I wouldnt be surprised if john hanke turned out to be a pedophile. Making it easier to find children.

  5. I use it everyday to find raids in my area to do with my family. I have never responded to a flare or used it to meet up with people I didn’t know.

  6. Is it just me or does this community constantly complain? I feel that Niantic is in a situation where it’s a lose lose because there will always be complainers

  7. Great video topic but heres the thing. Niantic is not just the blame point for everything. They are giving people fun with this game. How about turning it around and saying wheres the damn parents and hitting them up with stupid blame? 98% of the time it is the parents neglect causing sh*t like this if it happens…

  8. I think this all comes down to personality responsibility imo. Nobody has to chat with strangers online and then meet up with them. Parents should be responsible for their kids safety not Niantic

  9. I’m not using Campfire because I don’t want too meet strangers to play a mobile game- not on Campfire, Discord or elsewhere.

  10. I really don't understand how we're supposed to use it. I get the occasional notification, but they're all at least a half hour away if I dropped everything instantly, got in the car, and had no traffic between here and there. Not sure how many players want to stand around and wait for other players to have to travel a half hour. Have never joined a raid through it as none have actually been close enough to me to get to it. I've never invited anybody through it as I don't know the reverse problem – how long do I stand around and wait and see if anybody shows

  11. I uninstalled Campfire, because anyone can join any group from any part of the world. These are people I don’t know or don’t even know by association. The local Messenger group I’m apart of, I either know the people or someone I know knows them. Campfire is far too unsafe.

  12. Safety concerns aside, until Campfire is directly integrated into PoGo it is just another battery drain. All the features should be part of the experience, not funneled through a separate app, because to your first point, we already have Discord.

  13. If people didn’t have to download another app for it more would most likely use it.

  14. anything can be bad, if bad people are able too use it. public washrooms, change rooms, facebook, uber, walking thru walmart, literally anything… like come on, at a certain point you guys need too stop having an issue with every single thing because the remote raid nerf sucks.

  15. This is what I been saying! And I HATE being gaslighted by Niantic Shills that I'm "anti social" or should just "stay inside" I'm all for going out to meet people. But I am NOT ok with being asked to leave the safety of the mall where ik people will help me if anything were to happen. Especially when I was asked to leave the mall to go SEVERAL BLOCKS AWAY to some random location that's no where near gyms or pokestops! Or even asking what I'm wearing! I stopped using campfire

  16. As I mentioned in your previous video, niantic Campfire is a pedophiles playground and dream come true. These people KNOW over 70% of miners play PoGo, and will use campfire strictly to lure them in.

  17. The app is fantastic and it's a shame the mapping functionality wasn't on GO from the start.
It's obviously not safe for everyone.

  18. Really don't know how campfire would replace Silph Road, does it have all the information about tasks, shinies, team rocket teams, etc. etc.

  19. That's why I encourage player groups having a few "Carriers" just to ensure safety.
There's always someone willing to victimize someone else.

  20. bro you are the most negative person lol. why do you even play pokemon go? it seems like you hate it

  21. I've met up with some trainers using Campfire. I ask people that want to do trsdes if they want to do it at least a block away so we dont have to meet physically. If i do meet people, I stress safety by meeting at a public spot. Havent had any issues yet but i stay alert and cautious about it. It has been useful though there are some concerns that come with it

  22. What campfire WANTS to be is absolutely essential.

The dangers of this aren't dissimilar from the dangers of being outside AT ALL. I really hope fear mongering about it don't get it shut down.

  23. The best way to use campfire is as follows… Step 1: Uninstall Pokemon Go. Step 2: Do not reinstall Pokemon Go until Niantic figures out that ignoring and gaslighting their community is unacceptable. Simple.

  24. The way Niantic is burning Pokemon Go to the ground, might not be any players left to use Campfire before long.

Is there even a lot of people using it? My area still feels a bit dry.

  25. I was on Campfire briefly the day before the remote raid nerf. It seemed like such a glitchy, nonfunctional mess of an app I deleted it and refuse to click on the Campfire icon in game. And that was before I heard of the possible dangers from using it. Even if it was safe, the fact that Niantic made it pretty much guarantees I'll never use it again! Not that my community has bothered to raid since then anyways.

  26. I don't think I can watch your channel anymore. All you do is bring up negative things and the tone you bring is just off putting. I like you but I can't listen to it anymore.

  27. I’ve had it since last July only use it a bit to find raids but don’t interact on it. Btw I’ve left lots of comments on your videos and never see a like or reply so don’t know how we having a “discussion”
