You get like 2 after the raid anyways, and the max you can have is 10. Are you trying to save it for next Christmas? I’d use all 10 if there weren’t a cool down for it.

Issue is mewtwo literally give you 7-11 shards aka 2 gems atleast lol but no one wanna use them for some reason

I used 3-5 each raid and got a bunch back after winning. If everybody uses them, Mewtwo goes back to normal in no time! And the raid is easy after that.
I haven’t done a 3 star or 5 star shadow raid

I was using like 3-5 every raid for 11 raids yesterday, and I started with 7 gems and now i have 10. USE Them! You get most of them back!
I didn’t fight any pokestop grunts or leaders at all, so what i got was only from the raids
They are glitchy though, I’m sure a few people are using them and not realising they’re not being counted.
I had 10 when I met my friends, we did 12 raids and I used around 2 to 4 every raid and somehow I left with 11. So yeah, feel free to use them.

I think most people just don’t realize that you must stop attacking for a little while after using one. I didn’t either on my first mewtwo raid.
No. I like my crystal balls too much to waste them on a shadow newmew that U have to fight alone and will lose to anyways.
Not enough people for mewtwo, and not yet needed them for the other shadows….they were all easily beatable for the two of us, that play in person…
Even without using gems the raids only take a third of the time people were anticipating.
Personally I’d rather save them for when I’m trying to hit the raid with 3 people. Not use them when there are 10 of us…

We didn’t use more than two in a group of 7-9 during our first few raids. We didn’t know the raid rewarded us enough to replenish our supplies. Once we realised we started using them more generously
That’s the problem. People have no idea what this new item is or even how to use it.
Unless you watch some YouTuber on these new features, most people are just going to play the game like they always have. You have to hold the hands of people who play games now. Niantic could make a simple animation and show you how and what they are instead of text that people are just going to tap away.
How do I use them? I fought a shadow machop and nothing popped up to use them with. Granted it did take like 12 seconds to beat

My boyfriend and I did 6 raids yesterday, most with 7 people, and almost every raid we each had to use 2 of our gems because there was at least one person who didn’t use any. And yet we never had to worry about refilling on gems because the raid would give us enough shards to replace those two.
To be fair, there have been glitches where people click to use a gem and it doesn’t work, something that I think Niantic even tweeted about at one point. I think our first raid, my boyfriend wasn’t able to use his gems until right before mewtwo was subdued even though he paused fighting just to click on the gem. There are definitely people afraid to use theirs, but some are just having technical issues.

For real! I was grinding last week to get all the shadow shards I could, started yesterday with 6, ended with 10!
Telling people who likely raided with blissey most their careers to do something useful. Good luck with that
It’s over 100 degrees out, I’m never near a raid and when I am…. no one else is there and I’m not standing in the sun that long and I can’t do most of them myself. On that note, I don’t like raids and only do them when forced for research tickets. I gave up on the idea of having a MewTwo the second they said Shadow Raids were local only.
