Wow, I‘m in the bottom group.
I never saw the appeal for third party apps, but I get that many like them more than the official one. For me it‘s sufficient. I check my subs and laugh a bit.
Rooreelooo
i didn’t even know unofficial Reddit apps existed. what makes them so much more popular than the official one? ive never had any issues with the official one.
BabySealOfDoom
It should be a combined usage for official app.
Dukemon102
Glad to see most people still appreciate the greatness of Old Reddit.
dank-yharnam-nugs
How can these add up to more than 100%
onedayiwaswalkingand
Why is 3rd party mobile apps lumped together while the official apps are split into iOS and Android?
radewagon
Interesting choice separating the iOS and Android version of the official app (none of the others were separated by OS?) to make the official app appear to be the least popular option when it is, in fact, the most popular option.
DarkDuo
No offense but this is a horribly made chart
Ravenq222
The official app is too cluttered. BaconReader is simple.
Spyhop
You cant split the vote between iOS and Android for the official app and leave the other options consolidated.
Lokkdwn
This data is kind of skewed when presented this way. It looks like more people use 3rd party apps than the official app, but actually over a 1/3rd use the official app. You should combine the results for Android and iOS.
bingbong6977
What is your favorite third party app? I’ve tried multiple and didn’t like them.
p5s52
Me when I skew data to help my side
In reality 68% of people use official methods of Reddit to browse this subreddit
Remierre
This visualization of the data misrepresents the proportion of first-party app users versus third-party app users by splitting one but not the other.
I say this as someone who will quit reddit when they kill third party apps – honesty is important.
jak2125
What are third party apps? Like on video game systems and whatnot?
Derrythe
Huh, so only 32% of users here use third party apps at all. Everyone else, and even likely some or most of those 32% use official reddit apps or the official site.
Was this supposed to suggest that third party apps are popular? Because it isn’t doing that.
SpeckTech314
If third party apps go old.Reddit is bound to be next
CosmicSploogeDrizzle
Will this sub be going dark in solidarity with other subreddits and with 3rd part apps? We absolutely should
theplasmasnake
is r/NintendoSwitch gonna be a part of the blackout on the 12th?
skygz
pretty amazed at desktop being over 50%. I thought we were a dying breed
xanucia2020
Nobody asked me. Who made up these stats?
Galbert123
Where does old.reddit on mobile fall on this chart?
MrBKainXTR
Huh I did not expect third party apps to be this popular.
Nail_Biterr
so….. what I’m getting from this is that the change Reddit is making (which I don’t agree with) will be ‘only’ impacting 32% of the users.
I’m not sure why everything else is broken up – but it seems like it’s misleading to show that 3rd party apps is the most popular.
I_WishIKnewUWantedMe
Not a fan of the way Android and iOS clients are separate. I completely understand the importance of 3rd party apps, however displaying the data like this to purposefully skew it at a glance isn’t a good look…
dapoktan
weird astroturfing going in here talking about ‘narratives’.. lol wtf.. its not even a difficult graph to understand.. the point of the graph is to highlight the 32% of users that will be affected, not saying you cant use your precious official app anymore
DerekStu
OldReddit > NewREddit.
I thought it was just me, but I find the older uglier site easier to consume.
itsbotime
I’m glad you included all 148.7% of users.
SomeRandomPetey
I think you should have lumped together the ios and android official apps in the statistics, which would be 36.9% This doesn’t really change the overall message that a huge amount of people use third party apps
serbeardless
Old reddit still the best reddit.
Res0lu7ion
This is the worst way to try to prove a point. It’s equally as valid to say the percentage being lost rather than pretend 3rd party is the majority.
Acquainted-Faith
I pretty much dominantly use the new reddit on desktop.
hepgiu
I will stand by any battle to preserve reddit’s third party apps and especially old reddit but if they decided to pull the plug is probably because the data they have says it’s a percentage insignificant enough that they can live without it, especially since most of us don’t see ads at all. It was always coming. I look forward of freeing myself of this time sinkhole because without Apollo or old reddit I’ll probably pull the plug.
ChippersNDippers
25% use the new browser version, my god, the horror.
