Pokemon Go announced their new season GO Battle League: HIdden Gems. With this we saw a ton of move updates including buffs to walrein, dunsparce, alolan sandslash, clefable, emolga, and others with a nerf to trevenant.
This week is open great league and ultra league summer cup. Summer cup is a 2500cp league with fire, water, electric, grass, and bug typings.
Prior to the wing attack buff that made noctowl everywhere, there were two dominant safe swaps for great league – sableye and lickitung. Lickitung is such a great safe swap as it is bulky, as a nice fast move in lick and a quick charge move in body slam. Paired with froslass and swampert as a balanced team.

I started use venusaur again as closer.. cant even count how many double fairy i see now.. everyone started counter medicham, so venu got fun time

Thoughts on Sableye instead of Frosslass?
i wonder how a shadow claw froslass would pan out. powder snow just doesn’t have the same farm down potential in late game and so many ghosts and even non-ghosts are getting shadow claw so why not fros? (unless it doesn’t learn shadow claw in the main series i have no idea)
I see Scrafty making a comeback… Medi is been used a lot because of Regional players am just been used to using Medi with Noctowl! I am using Scrafty in the back am man to many KOs! Fross don’t had no way to go, umbreon can keep up, am Medi just takes to much damage before it goes down!

I've been enjoying licki safe swap this season. Overall, I've felt this season has a lot more diversity and options of true generalists/safe swaps. Looking forward to catching some streams! Thanks for all the content!

I need the XLs for a few Pokémon I only have 18 XLs for Lickitung, I need XLs for A9, Medicham, Dusclops, Diggersby… and a few more. And the funny thing is… I have a bunch of XLs for Pokémon that I won't use 😂
Power whip is nice on a safe swap cause I'm starting to see a lot of double mud boy backlines

Thankfully haven't seen much Lickitung yet. Can't help playing AShrew in little cup, and now I can't help playing shadow A Slash in great league. Got my best ever start at 2317.
I wonder if we'll get to see future Dan critique past Dan on bad plays in those brief seconds on stream lol. Looking forward to it!
