Pokemon Go announced their new season GO Battle League: HIdden Gems. With this we saw a ton of move updates including buffs to walrein, dunsparce, alolan sandslash, clefable, emolga, and others with a nerf to trevenant.
This week is open ultra league and single-type cup – great league. This is a 1500CP league where you can only use pokemon that have one typing. Lots of pokemon not allowed in this meta like medicham, sableye, altaria, bastiodon, etc. So how do you team build in a single-typing meta. Do you go ABB, balanced, all fighters, all of one typing? Let’s look at all the possibilities for putting together the best single-type cup teams.
I think the best team building strategy for single-typing cup is to have a super safe lead that can stay in with anything and a balanced team approach in the back. That is why I ran kanto ninetales lead with cofagrigus and umbreon in the back.

Yeah I've been using Shadow K9 with Shadow muk and Shadow Granbull… Shadow K9 is very solid… I've been using psychic instead of overheat but wonder if I should go overheat

I was using this team and I got decent wins, I just have to watch out for water and fighting types
I also tried to use Samurott and just couldn’t get it to work. Bug is also resisted by poison and I saw a lot of muk and grimer when I used it. It does spam hydro’s like crazy but I did not have success with it.
I have limited options but finally found lots of success with shadow grimer clefable and switching up 3rd between umbreon and haxorus of im bored

With politoad I one shot the granbull with hydro pump I couldn’t believe it it’s cp was in the 1400 as well

Since you said you don't have a Dubwool, I submitted some battles with a team that has Dubwool so that people can see how great it is in this cup! They really need to make it more accessible. I'd love a Wooloo community day so that we can hunt hundos and and grind xls for Ultra League as well, because it's SUPER DUPER unaccessable in Ultra.

I built a new team today and after dropping to below 2k ELO, I managed to pull out 2x 5/5 and 3x 4/5.
Jumped back around 2150 Elo by the end.
I'm running Dubwool lead with Body Slam + Payback in the lead.
Safe swap is a Shadow Muk running Poison Jab, Dark Pulse and yes Acid Spray. I've literally farmed an Umbreon Down with the build and in the 1 shield vs a Regi, It actually takes him out.
Lastly, I am running Cofagrigus with Shadow Ball, but I opted for Psychic instead of Dark Pulse because it allows you to 1 shot both Fighters, the Muks never shield it and any Normals Types also seem to no shield thinking its a Shadow ball.
If you get off 2 Acid Spray's with Muk on Umbreon, Cofagrigus can literally Farm Down using Shadow Claw…

Don’t know about anyone else, but this single-type cup is the most fun I’ve had in a while. There are so many usable meta-busting teams that there’s almost no meta *left*.
totally unscientific observation but i feel like i've been seeing more water, rock and ground types (milotic, lycanroc, marowak) since this video dropped lol.
Can polítoed in the lead, umbreon safe switch and Shadow Ninetales as closer work well in this cup? (Or is it better to have Ninetales in the lead or as a safe switch?)

Sorry to say that the best Meta is Umbreon/Muk combination with a 3er muk has Dark O for Coffin am poisoning j for fairies! Am ymbreon well he is a tank! I had used those two with Clefable am Shadow Golduck! Man that’s crazy! How many Coffins running from umbreon to be catch to a muk with shilds! Lol yeah ninetails looks good!
I Can't decide which coffin to build. I started running my psychic Umbreon a few days ago and it's been a fun sneaky play
Ran something similar to this team. Used regular KNine and Shadow KMuk in place of Cofa, and LR on Umbreon. Went 16 – 9 but probably could have gone 20 – 5 if I had played better. Thanks for the video it definitely sealed my use of a KNine lead for this meta
It’s no fun when people get away with team combs that totally rely on rng, that should not be possible / succesfull..

Haxorus with Surf instead of Night Slash, Kanto Ninetales, and Sylveon (17-8). Sylveon and Ninetales handle psychics and ghost pretty well w/o need for night shade. Surf provides good coverage in this meta against fire, ground, & rock types.
