It is 90* F (32*C) in sunny Florida. Since the increased spawns I have found many parks with decent shade so I am able to go out and see all the mons appearing on my screen. The field looks so empty without the extra spawns on the map and makes me wonder if I'm wandering around for nothing.
I feel exactly the same as you about the spawn radius. And it will encourage either buying more balls to catch, or visiting pokestops.
This is my prediction for the radius bug:
Niantic said it was a bug and removed it.
People complain, say it was amazing and they wish it was in the game.
Niantic sells an item that increases radius like an Incense+ or whatever.
People complain but end up paying for it.
Niantic looking to crush 3rd party apps that been successful – silph, poke genie, etc etc. Horrendous, anti-competitive behaviour. Shameful.

I've been fairly forgiving of changes over the years, but this recent “unintentional enhancement” that was QUICKLY identified as a BUG and immediately FIXED has me very close to quitting this game. I also benefitted from seeing neighbor's house spawns. I fail to see why that is such an evil thing!
When remote raids was nerfed, niantic said local raids gets extra candy, started if getting extra XL candies, now that’s been nerfed and no one noticed??

Since the spawn distance has increase, I have noticed that I see more spawns that will disappear once tapped on. It is annoying. However I hope this will be like the remember the last ball bug.
I’ve definitely opened the game more the past few days. I did have a few house spawns already, but this “bug” doubled them and motivated me to check them more often. Having house spawns or not does not at all impact how or how often I play the game out and about, no matter what Niantic says. And being able to see more spawns when walking around my park or whatever just makes the game better. Reverting this change ends up reverting my renewed interest… Niantic stacking up the L’s recently.
ETA: And yet another new Pokemon that does not spawn in the wild and is locked behind other mechanics is not helping my outlook.
I've never seen a company hate happiness and joy more than Niantic.

Playerbase: You messed up remote raid passes. This is gonna affect your revenue.
Niantic: We're sticking to our decision. We're not worried about our revenue.

Just because you don't remote raid doesn't mean you're not affected. You deserve what you tolerate.

it was soooooooooooooo a bug >.< because some of us can't get that many pokeballs. I tried it yesterday, and it was sooooooo a bug. Unless you have to be up and walking around to get it? cause when i was in the park it was good (Decent?) but add more balls in the poke stop. I did catch an Artacuno (not shinny i don't think) on the insence today. It was my best ever catch i've ever had on it.
It would even be cool if they implemented an outer ring where you can see Pokemon within the increased radius but you can’t catch them. That way you can decide if the mon is worth adventuring for
I HATE NIANTIC THE PERIDOT GAME IS A MESSY BUGGY MESS F THAT GAME . I love pet games that let me make hybrids like DragonVale and dragon city and flight rising because BREEDING IE FREE wtf why I pay 25$ just to breed in peridot when normally breeding in other games is free … They have to be broke because that some broke people logic like oh we make a billion dollars from pokemon go but give us money for are new game for a feature that free on other games… I HAD TO DELETE 200 of my friends on pokemon go just to let 2 TWO people breed with my peridots on the game because oh no friends list is all connected so no room to add more friends.. smart idea to connect all the games friends list into 1 instead of unlimited friends. Oh and is you have kids there not safe because if they want more pets u have to talk to a stranger online and ask them can u breed with there pets . I would have made it free so kids don't have to do that… As a gaming company They suck so bad that now I see why people angry like AAAAA I hate this stupid company

Regarding your house spawns – turn the game on for a few hours each day, even if you're just leaving your phone sitting there doing nothing. That's what I did in 2016 and I went from 0 spawns to 1 after about a year, then 3, then 5, etc. When I quit the game in April I had something like 20 house spawns. Going around my neighborhood, the rest of the streets here barely have any, it's just a big circle of spawns around my house.
Niantic seems to randomly update spawns based on locations of heavy usage even if it's by just 1 player. You've got 2 in your house, so you might even fare better.

Well, it looks like Niantic is forcing the update today. My husband did an auto update yesterday (6/29) and the increased radius went back to normal. I didn't do the update and still had the increase until about 6/30 at 2pm (USA eastern). I tried to go into the game at that time and got a message to update in order to continue. Another "good feature" taken away again. Oh well!
Remember when Michael Steranka said “actions will speak louder than words.” Unfortunately, he was telling the truth. Here is a bug that helps players and Niantic fixes it almost immediately. Meanwhile, there have been bugs in the games that make parts of the game almost non-functioning (adventure sync for some) for months with no fix in sight. Those actions SCREAM that they don’t care about creating a positive playing experience for their users.
I was not able to take 25 pictures in a row of the same Pokémon.

its winter in Australia (as you know) and I havent been out this much since summer time becuase the spawns and joy of seeing pokemon on my screen encouraged me to explore. Managed to get two shinies yesterday (carvana and houndour) and a 4* fomantis from an egg hatch. Hope thye take zome of the feedback on board and implement this QoL update.
Niantic rule #1 – if it benefits players, or is fun, it must be FIXED. Wider range of view? Don't hold your breath, Zoe, they're not letting us have that. "Miscommunication"? Someone needs to be fired. It's one thing to say it's a bug, but confirming that it's a new feature? Unacceptable!
Sadly had a forced update this morning (Sunday 01 July) with the update to continue to play, had auto updates off because of that patch but thought it would be a few more days between. They don't want you to enjoy the game, they want to kill it to move on to different IPs then relaunch POGO2 in a few years
It stinks they let some influencers promote it and actually confirmed it was intentional until they didn’t and removed tweets.

In my opinion it was the best bug ever, I was really exited to go out and catch some more pokemon, the expanded range was epic…..😢
Face it – the double spawn rate isn't coming back! A couple of years ago the nearby view range for raids was also doubled by mistake it showed later and the players obviously loved it. But even though we begged Niantic to let it stay that way it was removed in the next update and then was the time of total lack of communication from Niantic, so they didn't even comment the situation with one word. At least they're now telling us – surprise! – they're not going to make this game any better even though they can without losing anything. On the contrary it would make players play a lot more which you would think is a good thing, but Niantic obviously don't care about that. They have their AR, world mapping and tracking people "vision" which seems to be the only thing they really care about – not the players/their customers and what they care about. We saw during Covid Niantic actually started to care about the players and – surprise! – they earned a lot of money. But now they'll rather fire 300 employees than keep up their much better "Covid vibes". I'll never learn understand the leaders at Niantic and their bad decisions. I hope one day The Pokémon Company will interfere and get their leaders sacked instead, because they're obviously clueless about how to run a business with customers. Unfortunately, I'm "addicted" to the game having invested so much time and effort in the game in the past and l still love pokémon, so yesterday I bought the big coins bag for the first time in a very long time. I must be out of my mind!
Zoe, I had to stop playing over a month ago, due to being disabled + the limitations on remote raiding making it almost impossible to participate. Your interview video was the last nail in the coffin, listening to a Niantic employee's complete disrespect for my style of play. Watching the game implode like this makes me very sad, as I loved playing very much (began the first week in 2016). I'm not sure how anyone can continue with the obvious disregard for player's feelings.
Since the "map upgrade" update a few+ months ago the spawns in my area have DRASTICALLY dropped. I no longer get spawns at work, at all. And many of the areas with gyms no longer have spawns either. It's extremely frustrating.
Adventure SYnc is still BROKEN FOR MONTHS, but they fix this "bug" in less than 2 days. Niantic is THE WORST COMPANY, and while I don't like seeing employees affected, they'e hurting, and I hope they die off, lose license and The Pokemon COmpany and Game Freak just take over– Like buy them out, keep it going, ACTIVELY listen to community to make it better and FIRE HANKE and ALL OTHER TERRIBLE DECISION MAKERS.
Me being a realist, I expect the "bug" to be a test to make it a ticket holder feature exclusive to schill out $15 tickets for Go Fest. I already plan to do the global, so fine, but for ALL and an everday feature… it made the game BETTER.
