Nintendo Switch

Shockingly, Pikmin 4 has 5.1 Surround Sound.

It’s not as obvious as in other games, but it’s there. I was playing the demo docked and noticed monster noises coming from my left and right rear speakers.

I checked the game page on [Nintendo.com](https://Nintendo.com) and it isn’t advertised at all. There is no “Linear PCM” note that I usually see for other games that do have it.

This isn’t uncommon, though. There are many games on Switch that don’t advertise their surround sound capabilities for some reason, and Nintendo is annoyingly inconsistent with correctly advertising that games do have it. Most first party Switch games do have it, though.

This is a complete surprise and delight to me. I wasn’t expecting this game to have it at all, but it makes perfect sense. Now I’m even more excited to play the full game.

I would add this to the “5.1 Surround Sound Games On Switch” thread but all threads on here are locked after a year 🙁

This is nice to know. I got a 5.1 surround sound system, but if I put my Switch sound setting to surround it seems to ignore half of the sound effects, so I end up keeping it off.

What’s crazy is when I was replaying Wind Waker on Gamecube recently and it had 5.1. I feel like every game should have it at this point.

I think most big Nintendo games have 5.1 surround sound.

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love Pikmin 3, and I know the missions do add playtime but I really really hope the main story on 4 is longer. So far things seem to point to yes but I will get this regardless

Does Nintendo even really say anything about supporting 5.1 for their games?

I can’t think of a time they have listed it as a feature on any of their products or product pages for the Switch.

Either way, nice to know the game has it. Wish Nintendo made it more clear which of their games supports 5.1.
