Pokemon Go

But I slept from 9:30pm and woke up around 6am.

Game thinks I can function of 4 hours of sleep, yeah right! 😂

I mean, is it possible you have a sleep disorder and don’t know it? Not sure how it tracks your sleep, but if it’s based on breathing or heart rate, sleep apnea is a very common example of a condition that would throw off the data significantly since someone would keep waking up (due to being unable to breathe) and passing back out with no awareness of it.

I mean, this is Niantic, so it’s very possibly a bug or shitty software/hardware, but it’s worth keeping in the back of your mind for later. One of the key hallmarks if it is an actual issue would be a profound tiredness that doesn’t seem to recover with sleep, because you’re -not- sleeping soundly even though it seems like you are. Or loud snoring, for that matter.

So what does pokemon sleep actually do?

I picked mine up today and did a bit of auto catch, but haven’t set it for sleep yet. Nice to see it in action.

Dude my friend told me they were doing a pokemon go sleep thing and said I’d be terrible at it because I get 2-4 hours of sleep every night. I thought he was joking 😂😂😂

I had access to the beta (I don’t have Go Plus) and it also registered only around 4 hrs, no matter how much I slept.

I remember reading something like if it doesn’t hear any noises or doesn’t detect any movement it takes it as if you’re not sleeping, so apparently you have to be one of those that dances in their sleep or snores like a bear in order for it to register you’re sleeping

When I suffered from a lot of stress causing insomnia I used a lot of these apps that monitor your sleep by how much you toss and turn in bed. None of them ever tracked it correctly. I used free apps, apps that synced with my MiBand, paid apps. None of them. If you’re a quiet sleeper, it just tracks less movement thus thinks you sleep less.

I am not surprised that the Pokemon-Niantic sleep tracker does exactly the same poor job.

Many new parents do function on four hours, I speak from experience…

I had the same thing this morning when I ended my sleep session and connected it to Pokémon Go. It showed exactly 4h 0m for me as well. Not quite sure how it got that calculation as I had a sleep session running for almost 9 hours.

If Niantic knows when you are sleeping, and knows when you’re awake (walking), and knows if you’ve been bad or good (using 3rd party apps, moving too fast…etc.); does that make John Hanke Santa Claus?

A player from our local Discord reported this exact same thing. Said he slept a solid 8hrs, yet it only recorded 4.

Pokémon never gets it wrong, you must have slept incorrectly
