Switch and awesome sales… Name a more iconic duo

I enjoyed Pikmin 4, and just finished it myself.

I haven’t played any of the previous games, but it definitely helps having watched the previous games over the years on YouTube.

It sold more physical units in 3 days than FFXVI did in 4 weeks.

Streets were telling me Switch was about to get cooked in 2023

    Kind of a confusing headline.

Pikmin 4’s first week sales in Japan was more than a Pikmin 1, 2, and 3’s first week sales combined in Japan only. This does not include the Pikmin 3 Switch remaster (or any of the new play control Pikmin games) which Pikmin 4’s sales would not beat the combined sales of if included.

    Still impressive though!

It’s always funny to hear the story of how Pikmin 1 became known in Japan due to the song “Ai No Uta” becoming a big hit and selling more copies than the game itself.

No insert song was needed this time though.

I hope this game does great. Pikmin games are amazing, and I am glad Nintendo never gave up on the franchise.

We got our copy a couple days ago and my son’s obsessed.

I feel like we’ve had this kind of news on a bunch of Nintendo franchises for the Switch, I guess solid entries and their most popular system in over a decade can do that.

Is it finally time? Is it time for Pikmin to get the treatment is deserves?

Given Pikmin 3 Deluxe only sold 2.2 million copies in nearly 3 years. Selling 400k physical copies in just Japan in just the first week is great.
Surely the total global sales should easily be over 3 million.

Amazing what happens when you release a brand new mainline title for Pikmin on a console with more than 21 million lifetime sales.

I love Pikmin, so this is great news! Looking forward to giving Pikmin 4 a go

  14. Well yes. There’s literally 10x as many gamers now as there was when the first 2 came out

  15. matt82swe

So, it’s a good game? Never played any of the previous entries

  16. le_dankest_memez

Yesss we might not have to wait another 10 years for Pikmin 5

  17. Octopus_Fun

Well the previous games didn’t have Oatchi.

The insane Switch sales and pretty high quality of this current generation of Nintendo first party title is making everything they pump out “the best ever for this series”. Zelda, Animal crossing, Pikmin….

Super Mario Wonders is gonna be wild.

First 3 games came out on Gamecube, Gamecube, and Wii U.

  20. Sweet! I love it when a long-running franchise gets the love it deserves.

I remember falling in love with Pikmin when I first saw the trailer in Luigi’s Mansion. It’s so good to see it thrive.

  21. itzerologic

Glad to hear that, I’m glad that this game is doing well. I hope we get an interest in a F-zero remake or SOMETHING from Nintendo. Because of this.

  22. extralie

It DOES help that this one didn’t release on an underperforming console… Seriously, the series was kinda cursed with all of them releasing on Nintendo’s worst selling consoles.

  23. BarlaRod

I am so happy for Pikmin ^_^ Hopefully the Series can grow further from here! 🙂
