I feel your pain, I live out in the country and the town is about a 15 minute drive. This was such a botched event
I submitted four routes on friday, but they are still under review. I’m planing to submit more in the future whenever I see there are none around. It can be a really cool feature to finde good spots in a new city.

I don’t know why you can’t at least zoom out a few miles so you’d stand a chance of being able to find some routes.
It is very frustrating. I even drove to the big city this weekend and still couldn’t find routes

I live in the third largest metro area in Canada and still can’t find a single route.

I live in the twin cities area, found nothing in Mpls so far, found a 5 minute circle at the park nicollette hospital private park in SLP and one on centennial lakes in Edina.
You’d think they would have set up literally ANY official routes ahead of the event starting, instead it appears they did nothing, gave 1% of users the ability to create a route (4 submissions max a week) that have been in “awaiting approval” mode for weeks.
I don’t understand how this successful of a game can continually do the stupidest thing 100% of the time. You beta tested with routes, you have data on popular locations — why they set up nothing based on this is just moronic!

I never spend money but always add new stops. I was blessed with route making ability. All routes been in approval nearly a week and going.
I just collapsed it until they actually roll out routes. No reason to be frustrated over something I can’t control or fix. I’m sure routes will be better by the end of August.
I’ve been to both a city and a pretty large park, and in both areas it said there were no routes nearby.
This one will sit in my queue next to “catch 10 Kecleon” for the next year or so, I imagine. Or longer.

Even if you had one, it’s a crapshoot whether it can start without glitching out.
No routes anywhere by where I work or near home. No ability to create them. I really don’t understand having an event for a mostly non functioning system.
I tried to make routes but it would do anything to finish the route, and I checked today somehow I caught 6 while on a route even though there are no routes????

It’s a brand new feature and there’s definitely a bottleneck of routes from all around the world needing to be reviewed since Niantic reviews them and not the community. It’s also not a timed research so all we can do is be patient

Most of us are ignoring the task. I’m currently in NY at work near Wall Street which is constantly active with lures and gyms and still zero routes.
Even if there was a route, Zygarde cells aren’t out yet. I did a route 50 times and not one cell…

Drove around Sacramento and either I can’t see any routes or they don’t exist…..
I’ve been able to submit. Haven’t had any approved or declined. Unsure if it’s a community review? I haven’t heard of anyone being asked to judge a route.
I was able to create a route, but it’s still “Under Review.” So essentially still at square one. 🤷🏽♀️

So annoying. Can’t crest routes can’t find any to follow. Hopefully it’s fixed soon.
Nianticant be asked to fix it
Don’t feel bad. Chances are, if you did find a route it would just crash your app several times and make you stand out in the sun for 4x as long as the route should have taken.
Niantic should pause this research until they can fix the many glaring errors here.
Jokes on you all, I ended up with a 2 star Zygarde so I don’t even care that there are no routes
Two routes in review. Only about 500m each and the game crashed about a dozen times while creating the short routes. Such a terrible idea to make tasks revolving around a new mechanic requiring players to submit the content required to complete the tasks.
I haven’t seen a single Route anywhere around here. I live in suburbs where PoGo is at least mildly popular ( 3 or 4 stops within a mile in every direction)

I’ve done the three and caught 20 mons and still don’t have a cell.
I would LOVE to see the stats on what percent of people have completed any part of this step.

Well what Niantic hasn’t done to destroy local communities it has bolstered by burning top-contributors who were usually the one’s creating Pokestops and Gyms, adding new pictures and generally working for Niantic for free. Who do they expect to go do the work of creating routes? Player morale is in the toilet, particularly among the most engaged player base.
My local Wayfarer/Pokestop group quit when Niantic nuked remote raid passes.
I secretly hope I’m gonna be first one in my city to get route creations, because then everyone will have to suffer my +10km route around every public toilet in the city

I still find it amusing that people were defending Niantic when it came out despite also releasing a timed event that barely anyone could participate in because almost no one had access to the feature that it was centred around
I live in nyc, be it brooklyn but I have yet to run into a route or be able to make my own for others. This was a massive flub, but a good idea.
I personally think it’s just to late for it. Ya Manhattan and other populated area will have it but to little to late and not a feature that will bring in or make players return to the game. Just preparing for a slow death and niantic to find a way to blame something for its down fall.
I can create routes!
The only problem is that the ones I’ve created have either been rejected (no reason given or suggestions as to what would be acceptable), and the others have been stuck in an “under review” queue for about 3 or 4 days.
Still no routes in my town so nobody else is having any luck either, although I know if only 1 other person in our pogo group who has the ability to create routes at the moment.
TLDR: Don’t bemoan the fact that nobody in your community can create routes, it doesn’t make much difference to actual route availability anyway.
It’s a special research, it’s not meant to be completed immediately.
Everytime I try to make a route, my game crashes, lol, nice going Nianitc
I recorded 3 routes that are awaiting approval. It took me about 10 tries because if you go too fast, it pauses your recording. If you come to a complete stop also, like waiting at a crosswalk, it also pauses your recording. Between those two factors I almost gave up on the whole thing.
I live in the 4th most populous city in the 19th most populous state, and I’ve completed 3 routes so far (and seen a fourth). Zygarde cells seen: zero.
