Pokemon Go announced their new season GO Battle League: HIdden Gems. With this we saw a ton of move updates including buffs to walrein, dunsparce, alolan sandslash, clefable, emolga, and others with a nerf to trevenant.
This week is great league and fossil cup. Fossil Cup is a 1500CP league with only rock, water, and steel typings. I have already gone over the top teams for great league including top 20 pokemon based on pvpoke ranking.
Mawile double grass (ludicolo and ferrothorn) takes on a very tiny fossil cup meta.

I have been running Ludicolo on the lead. It does ok vs Pelipper as long as you have shields. Then I have Lantern and Escavalier. It’s been doing pretty well.
I have a Kartana! It does indeed have a slightly higher attack stat than Ludicolo, well 53 higher attack according to PvPoke default IVs lol.

I don't like these limited cups. The Algo came for me last night tried different teams an just kept getting walled in open GL smh
You should have a kartana under 1500 there was a event that it was giving for free. It was the ultra beast weekend I think

I’ve been running Swampert lead with Lucario and Togedamaru and have been doing pretty good. Even if it gets worse when Polywrath gets counter I’ll probably still run it cuz it’s the most fun I’ve had with a team.

I have a none shadow mawile does that work? My shadow has frustration. Also what can i use for a lead and replacement for mawile?
I’ve been running Mawile-Ludicolo-Magcargo for this cup (until Poliwrath day). It spices up, until it runs onto meta teams (think: Pelipper Cup)

My best team is Ferrothorn, Escavalier and Peliper. My Escavalier is 97,8% rank (I had to evolve it for 200 candies) oneshot shadow Swampert with Megahorn from full health and normal gets to almost nothing, Drill run the Lanturn, Megahorn takes about 50% of Peliper health. Also Lucario do reduced damage to it because its half bug. I am at ELO 2600, so higher it might be different, but I found out that Megahorn is often key to victory. I might try Quag in future, but my shadow one have terrible IVs and non shadow one is not yet built. Nevertheless Peliper is MVP of my matches, that thing with energy sweep entire teams.
I ram this exact team for 2 days. 2 sets in each day for combined total of 10 games. So 20 in total. I was never hard countered by the algorithem sooo hard. Literally 20 games every single lead was a mudboy and a hard swap to kill my safe swap…… 20 games in a row……

The original intent was probably to have Fossil Cup run during Adventure Week, and then they (somehow) ran out of ideas for the current week to go with regular Great League.
Kartana was available from a timed research for everyone. Of course, I got a 98 so it's 1566 and too high for GL.
