Pokemon Go announced their new season GO Battle League: HIdden Gems. With this we saw a ton of move updates including buffs to walrein, dunsparce, alolan sandslash, clefable, emolga, and others with a nerf to trevenant.
This week is great league and fossil cup. Fossil Cup is a 1500CP league with only rock, water, and steel typings. I have already gone over the top teams for great league including top 20 pokemon based on pvpoke ranking.
In this video I look at a subscriber submitted battles. Upon watching the battles I noticed quite a lot of mistakes and take time at the end of this video to go over key steps required to become a better battler.

Cool battles ! Neat to see some analyzing of dos and don'ts.
For newer players it can be hard to recognize move times, but if you're unsure you can look at specific matchups in pvpoke and it'll tell you the move timing very simply. So you can get a very entry level understanding of when to throw or not.
You can also see things like if you win or lose a certain match, generally, or what potential win conditions of that match is like if you have to bait out a shield.
I feel like I played like this in my second season. I'm in my 4th now. I hit veteran for the first time, last season. I'm starting my push for veteran this week. I've climbed 200elo in the last 5 days

This was a great type of video! I personally don't have the bravery to have my battles critiqued, but I appreciate that other do! One of the things that's hard from just watching expert players, is to know what I'm doing wrong. This breakdown helps me understand why some of my misplays are misplays. I'd love to see more of these

im rank 20 and wish i played against these people lmao
I feel like at this rating, you could genuinely do anything & win like 50% of the battles because the combination of weird team combinations, wrong moves & poor matchup awareness from both players leaves most of the battles down to just luck.
I wasn't paying super close attention to every battle, but I think this trainer won most of, if not all the battles they sent in despite making very obvious mistakes to someone with a lot more experience in GBL.
So despite making lots of mistakes, we didn't see the consequences of those mistakes in any of these battles, so its hard to pick up on what the biggest things that this trainer needs to work on. Because, let's be honest, there are a lot of things this trainer can improve on, but you don't want to overwhelm them by listing every single thing they did wrong & every strategy or technique they need to use to improve, because it'll be way too much for someone who's likely not been playing for a long time.
I think in the future if you were to make videos like this, it would be better to showcase mostly losses because you learn more from them. It's then easier to identify where the match was lost & come up with an alternate play that could have flipped the game.
But all in all I think videos in this style will be really helpful for people looking to improve, whatever their rank is.

I’ve been stuck at Ace forever, I’ll get up to 2400’s but then crash. Sorry for the long comment lol😂
