Shiny little sparks. You need to have a close eye on them! I walked 8 routes and only got 3 by now. Best luck out there!
They are random spawns between 1-3 cells each… they look like green glowing fireflies. I got 3 in a row my first 3 routes, and have done 15 since with 0 spawns.
Between 51m – 100m from the finish line. I’ve had to pause there for a while for it to spawn. Otherwise, you’ll finish, and it’ll disappear or won’t appear at all.
It is theorized that at the moment, cells do not spawn for most (or all?) players on “Loop Routes”; those which begin and end at the same point.
Did you get any “route spawns”? They will have the little Route symbol next to the Pokémon name on the encounter screen, similar to lure or incense spawns showing their respective icons. Did you get any “route rewards” when you finished the route?
All of these aspects appear to be at least sometimes broken for loop routes.
Do you automatically collect the cells by walking by it? Or do you have to click on it?

The current theory (last I checked) is they only spawn during your first route of the day. So you can do the same one for hours and have it almost guaranteed to get nothing
I just found/walked my first route. Is it just me or are the Pokémon fleeing rates higher on routes? I had 3 flee from me within 7 minutes which is strange. I’m used to multiple fleeing if I’m riding in a car but I was walking.
Idk if I’m able to link other subreddits in this but if you check r/TheSilphRoad, there’s a member who has 50% zygarde and details his experiences with doing routes and obtaining cells.
I am usually finding about zero or one cell a day. No matter how many routes I do or how many times I do a route.
There is a route about 4km from my house that was doing back and forth until I tanked it up to silver. Leveling up the route doesn’t seem to increase the chances of a cell appearing.

They tend to appear at the end of the route from my experience, hard to spot sometimes and if you’re catching pokemon you can miss them easily.

I walked the same route 60 times so far no cells. I tried a new route I found and got a cell the first time….
You are only eligible for a cell the first time you walk it per day.
Every Pokémon with the route symbol where the shiny one could be has a 80% chance of being a Pokémon, 20% a cell.
Today I finally found a route although I won’t be using it frequently since it’s very far away. I saw one cell at the very end of the route and before I could click on it the route finished and it was gone. So if you do see a shine at the end you should remember to pause the route so you don’t finish the route accidentally by your gps walking a little further.
You only had a chance to see a zygarde call the first time you did the route for the day.
The other 5 times you did it didn’t have a chance to see a cell.
You have to sacrifice a pigeon and take a shit at the finish line for a cell to appear. Also you have to buy 37 super incubators before you can claim it
Did you make sure to walk out onto the road, like the route tells you to?
I read from others that if you close the game and reopen before you finish, like 50m that it’ll force one to spawn. Haven’t tried it, no routes nearby.
Also read somewhere that there’s a limit to that route. Like if you find one there, once you finish you need to use a different route for more.
Idk can’t test anything.
Bad news is you wasted your time walking the same route 5 times after the first one. It’s pretty well established now that each unique route will only drop you a cell the first time you walk it each day (and even then it’s only a chance).
Cells do spawn from loop routes, rumours to the contrary are false.
A lot of claims that fully closing and reopening the app near the end of the route has a good chance to spawn the cell. This has worked for me once.

I tried the close and re-open game trick today and I got a cell. Did it right at the end of the route. I have 2 cells now on 8 routes
I’ve also only ever found cell on the first attempt of a route so other attempts of same route reverse or not has never given me a cell. Feel like 1 a day per route but not reversed also.
How do we even find routes because I cannot find even one.
Everytime we walk a route it says paused or go back and start again. We have 7 routes near us but 3 of them are just doing the route backwards.

Proven to work ( i did 52 routes by now).
Get to the final 40-70 meter -> Shutdown the game ( close it in the background aswell) -> Restart and wait sometimes seconds , sometimes a minute to see the cell showup ( click it and it says you harvested 0 , this is a bug and even though it says 0 you can see them on the pokemon )
This trick works for me like 90% of the time so im sticking with it, although i only got it to work once per day and per route ( i aint sure there might be a hard limit on one cell per day for each route , i know there are 3 routes limit per day but i only got 2 nearby).

I’m doing all the suggested tricks but still 0 for like, 10. Cells need to be guaranteed already.
I’ve done walking across a large mall 8 times and no cell, a loop route no cell, been 5 days in trying these new tips and no cell on a looped route or a straight path. This is feeling quite worthless to continue doing until Niantic decides to fix their spawning. I shouldn’t have to turn off the game to even try get a spawn on a first attempt route.

That’s funny, I haven’t even found a single route yet. I doubt I will anyway since I live in a rural area…
You can get 3 cells a day and between 1 and 3 cells from one Route. If you managed to get a cell you can’t get any more from that Route.
